Kinda like Rob but don't know White

scallopino - 18-3-2006 at 07:05

Isn't he making Horror movies now?

And i saw his drummer, John Tempesta, a couple of years back when he came to the Ultimate Drummers Festival in Melbourne. Loud. :drums:

Other than that, i don't know too much about Rob/White Zombie.

aquagoat - 18-3-2006 at 09:17

Yes he makes horror movies but he's also got a record due for release in March. I've got a his albums since "La sexorcisto...", this is when his music began to get interesting, I had one of his previous records produced by Bill Laswell: "Make them die slowly" that didn't sound too good.

I don't know if I'm gonna buy the new one due to a more and more important lack of money:crying: . If you buy it VIV, don't forget to tell us what it sounds like, please.

Pappawas1975 - 18-3-2006 at 17:57

HOW DARE YOU(in a max and paddy style)-lol

the movies are cool as :swear:--zombie does to the horror genre what tarrentino did to the heist genre, you can tell he really loves his horror movies, hardly suprising though as apparently he and his brother were what the english know as "gypo's" or "pikey's" and the americans know as"carnies"

they used to work on the carnivall when they were young and guess which attraction-??
yep the ghost train
it's all true it's on the bonus disc of "house of 1000 corpses"

i'm suprised though gojira that you don't care for his music judging by some of our previous threads about music, the old hard core/grind core and all-!!

aquagoat - 19-3-2006 at 10:10

Zombie's not really Hardcore/grindcore, it's more what I call Hamburger metal, something you listen to for a while and then you pass to something else until a new record arrives.

Pappawas1975 - 19-3-2006 at 16:50

Yeah, I always found his music sounding like he / they were trying too hard, a pastiche on the good Metal bands back in those days. Their only difference being was that they had a girl bass player. They were definitely never what I would Hardcore and CERTAINLY not Grindcore!

BBP - 19-3-2006 at 18:58

Oh hey! There's hope for me yet!
It's tough trying to join a metal band if you don't smoke or drink or snort, let alone if you have tits and a purple bass...

aquagoat - 19-3-2006 at 19:38

If you have tits and a purple bass, you can join my metal band anytime, BBP.:D

BBP - 19-3-2006 at 23:33

Sounds fun, though I didn't really intend to emigrate to France until I'd reached retirement age... What's your band called?

aquagoat - 20-3-2006 at 09:44

Enjo Kosai , it's japanese so it should be written in ideograms but I don't know them, the girl who gave me the name didn't teach me the corresponding ideograms. That means: subsidized relashionship or intercourse, i.e. prostitution. I've also got a doom project called Snow and a dub project called Macula Lutea. They're not actual band since I'm the only member, but other people's participation is welcome.

Im not sure thats true nowadays BB, I mean, there are seemingly loads of musicians and bands who are straight edge, without preaching it within their music / lyrics. Im sure it wouldnt be an issue joinging a band, even if they did partake, its your choice not to!

Tits are always a good thing and purple is a nice colour, so Im only seeing positives here...!!!

BBP - 20-3-2006 at 20:49

Maybe... though the only band I was even close to getting in was a depri-rock combo temporarily called "Michel Heeft Weer Eens Te Veel Gezopen" (after the 20-beer a day habit of the band leader), where I wouldn't have been the only lady. Unfortunately the 20-beer-a-day frontman creeped me out too much when he visited me with samples of his band. I just couldn't get him to leave. Worse, he called me two days later, very drunk, asking if I wanted to date him. I managed to find a polite version of NOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooo.

He hasn't phoned since, but we have a mutual friend. Whenever I meet that friend, he tells me Michel says hi.:duh:

:D:D:D:D boring situation.

BBP - 20-3-2006 at 21:00

It did scare my ass off at the time... I think I said I didn't have time for that sort of thing... not sure.

aquagoat - 20-3-2006 at 21:14

Were you afraid he might follow you in the streets, hiding behind bushes or hedgerows, watching you by your window, or something like that ?:-D

BBP - 20-3-2006 at 21:27

Pretty much... He wasn't the most pleasant-to-be-with person I could think of, and the thought of him calling me every day until I succumb is a bit frightening.

aquagoat - 20-3-2006 at 21:32

As long as he doesn't set your house afire cause you rejected him... some can be quite uncontrollable after 20 or more beers.:D

BBP - 20-3-2006 at 21:34

He was a dread to be with after 4... told me such weird stories... eg when he was in Utrecht once he got drunk and fell asleep in some stranger's garden.

aquagoat - 20-3-2006 at 21:46

I knew a guy, when I was in art school, who was very nice but after a few beers and a joint he used faint, he could be walking in the streets or doing something in the kitchen and all of a sudden Boom ! he was lying on the ground.:-D The first time I saw that I was quite worried but after seeing it happen 3 or 4 times I got used to it. When I heard a big noise, I instantaneously though : "Ohoh, fred has quit us once again".:-D ah the damage beer can yield.:-D not really the same kind as "your lovely" singer but strange anyway.

BBP - 20-3-2006 at 21:49

Ha! Quite an advertisement for AA...

aquagoat - 20-3-2006 at 21:56

The guy didn't even need to drink a lot, I think it was the combination of alcohol and weed that produced that reaction, but he never managed to find the precise moment when it happened, it could happen anytime, sometimes after 3 beers sometimes more, we never knew.:-D

BBP - 20-3-2006 at 21:59

Weird... real weird... :freak: Stories like that make me happy I'm not a drinker.

aquagoat - 20-3-2006 at 22:08

never ? even during parties ?

BBP - 21-3-2006 at 00:24

Never regretted not drinking... and regretted drinking pretty much every time I did. Last time I consumed alcohol was at the Blessing of the Palms in the Westminster Abbey, in 2000. One overly large gulp of the blood of Christ was enough to give me a headache for the rest of the day.

aquagoat - 21-3-2006 at 09:17

It's better that way, I think.

BBP - 21-3-2006 at 12:11

Shouldn't have done the communion... I'm not christened, and by the rules of Anglican church, doing your communion whilst not being christened means you're doomed forever.

Just warning you... ;)

aquagoat - 21-3-2006 at 19:44

:shocked:Is there any risk for me ? You're frightening me now.:-D

Of course there's a big difference between being a social drinker and a fullblown hardcore alcoholic. Moderation is the key, here.

Some people turn nasty after just a couple of drinks, though...

It's difficult sometimes to moderate yourself, actually I don't drink anymore cause I can't stop drinking once I've begun.

Puptent - 21-3-2006 at 20:33

I can relate, had the same problem with smoking pot, so I quit doing that.

aquagoat - 21-3-2006 at 20:55

That's one of the reasons why I never started smoking weed, I would have had the same problem.

Not I! Silly, a failed comedian and likely to laugh a lot? Oh, yes! But never, ever a "hardcore drinker." Unless my mood is already good I avoid booze like it's a bottle of mixed diseases!

Pappawas1975 - 21-4-2006 at 13:21

Picked up 1000 Corpses on DVD the other day, nice and cheap from Virgin, fucking £2.99!!
Verdict - It was ok, nothing special.....Borrows LOADS from other movies in the genre.
I did like the overall look of it though, and it wasnt that bad. They shouldve done waaayyy more with that clown fella and his "Murder Ride", as it dwindled off into bog standard Horror territory after that scene.
I think you dig this movie because you are a fan of his music, because as a movie its about a 3 out of 10, IMO....
The blond bit in it is fit though.....
