Tips for using the Forum

BBP - 15-3-2006 at 01:35

There's a lot of funny dealies you can use to brighten up your posts.
Among these are the use of images, the use of URLs, e-mail links, various fonts, colours, text sizes, smilies and more.

You can insert a smilie by clicking on the one you want to post, or by entering the specific code of the smilie.
Codes:
; ) or ; -);)
: yawn: or : wow: :wow:
: umm::umm:
: swear::swear:
: singer::singer:
: shy::shy:
: shocked::shocked:
: rolleyes::rolleyes:
: roll::roll:
: puzzled::puzzled:
: P or : -P:P
: offtopic::offtopic:
: mad::mad:
: lol::lol:
: guitar::guitar:
: guitar2::guitar2:
: drums: :drums:
: singer: :singer:
: grin::grin:
: freak: or : duh::duh:
: drums::drums:
: devil::devil:
: D or : -D:D
: crying::crying:
: cool::cool:
: bouncy::bouncy:
: bouncing::bouncing:
: biggrin::biggrin:
: bald::bald:
: -):-)
: kiss: :kiss:
: rsvd: :rsvd:
: ( :(
: pissed::pissed:
: regan::regan:
Most smilies start with a colon ( : ). In order to show the codes, I put a space between the first colon and the rest of the code.

More will be available soon!

How to Post an Image:

Find an image you like. This has to be a pic on the Internet.
Tip: use Google image search.

Share it with us by typing:
Code:

[img]URL[/img]

You can find the URL of an on-line image by right-clicking it, moving to Properties in Internet Explorer (I'll check other browsers), clicking it, and looking for the words Image Location. Copy the exact image URL, including HTTP://, and paste it between the [ img ] tags. You can use almost any type of image, whether BMP, JPG or anything exotic.

Example:

[ img]http://bonny.ploeg.ws/turkey.JPG[ /img]
(leave out the spaces in the img-tags)

turns into:

Some on-line pictures are protected. These are often found on image hosting sites and blogs. That means they won't show up in the reply.

If you have an image on your PC that you want to share, you have to upload it first. You can upload it onto a free hosting site, onto your own web site, or mail it to me, and I'll upload it.

There's a number of fonts you can use to spice up your mail.
To use a font, type:
[ font={fontname}]text[ /font]
Leave out the spaces behind the brackets.
Instead of {fontnames}, type any of the names below.

Available fonts:
(I'll put these on maximum size so you can see them well)

Andale Mono
Arial
Arial Black
Book Antiqua
Century Gothic
Comic Sans MS
Courier New
Georgia
Impact
Tahoma
Times New Roman
Trebuchet MS
Script MT Bold
Stencil
Verdana
Lucida Console

You can also enter code in Code tags, but I found it's not working. So if you want to mail code, just click on the "Turn BBCode Off?" next to the reply box.

On the Control Panel, you can adjust your Forum settings.
This includes:
Your Avatar and all information below it. You can use any avatar you like, but keep the size to 150*150 pixels so the lay-out doesn't get disturbed.
Information on ICQ, Yahoo, MSN and stuff.
Location: tell us where you're from. This can be useful: if you're from Australia, you're online at a different time than most West-Europeans on this forum.
Mood: how are you feeling?
In your Bio you can tell us about yourself.
Your signature appears below every post you make. You can use BB-code in your signature, so you can put links and pictures in. Please do not use overly large or moving pics, as that's disturbing to read.
You can also choose to show your e-mail. This can cause the occurrence of spam in your in-box.

In your Options, you can change the colour scheme of this forum. This is handy if you have problems reading the Forum in the black-orange scheme.

U2U is the Personal Mail service of this site.

You can send Personal Mail to members, no other person can see them.
If you have a new U2U, you will see this in tiny print at the top right corner, between the Last Active and the and the Logged In As information.

If any user bothers you with PM, contact me, and I'll block his or her U2U use.

Please remember that the Super Administrator is able to read all your PMs. I will only use this power if I get complaints about your U2U activities.

You can use BB Code, a simplified version of HTML, in your posts to create certain effects.

At the moment when you want to share a picture (max 256kB and max 1000x1000) you can easily add an attachment in your post (but not in the quick reply window).

When you quote in your quote their is an pointer to the original message, so everyone can easily go back to the quoted messages.

You can fill in your b-day. In a few days I have managed to type in the programming for an extra b-day page where all the members are listed (if they have filled in their b-day)

You can set in the Todays posts the number of days you want to look back.

Further there are some advantages in the administrator panel, wich we cannot see off course.
