Zappa plays Zappa

Tickets at £37.50 if it ever happens! What a rip-off, what an insult to Frank's anti-commercialism.

Fido3 - 2-10-2005 at 22:47

Does'nt look like i'll be seeing any concert, 'cause the Glasgow gig's cancelled.:crying:

wazoodust - 3-10-2005 at 09:17

I'm going to Manchester for it (again, if it ever happens! :wow: )

I bought tickets for the London show the day they went on sale....Of course, the show is now on June 2nd rather than November 2nd, but still hope itll happen and itll be a good show Im sure....Second row seats too, so cant be bad...

BBP - 5-10-2005 at 22:05

I paid E. 145 for a VIP-ticket in Amsterdam... primarily to meet Dweezil.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

James - 6-10-2005 at 09:54

Get me some stuff for the site! Make a sign saying "PackardGoose.com" and give it to him while you take a photo!

Puptent - 3-11-2005 at 00:59

I have tickets for the Amsterdam concert, but I must say that I'm very disappointed with the way things have been going re. ZPZ (as most / all fans are, I guess.. :( )

That kind of price is the norm for big shows in venues such as the proposed ZPZ venues Im afraid James....Nothing really to do with the bands / promoters....

James - 3-11-2005 at 17:33

Yeah that's right, Dweezil and Ahmet won't get anything out of it

Pappawas1975 - 3-11-2005 at 18:03

Oh, I would gesture to say everyone involoved is on guarantees, but it seems that to include evryones fees and to pay for the whole thing in the first place, tickets need to be a certain price.....Last time I was at the Albert Hall to see Yes, the tickets were £41!

Puptent - 3-11-2005 at 18:46

It is kinda expensive, but Gojira is right: most tickets for concerts in these kind of venues are pricy. I don't really like these big concert halls anyway, but I saw Yes and Rush in concert (not on the same bill) some time ago and those concerts were also pretty expensive.

It does annoy me that we still don't know anything about the touring line-up and the kind of material they'll be playing. The ZFT is really dropping the ball on this one...

Pappawas1975 - 3-11-2005 at 18:52

I saw Rush too, Puptent, and I agree with you.....Didnt really enjoy the show either, I love the band, but live they are kinda boring, and our seats sucked...Still, a good night out though......They are really dropping the ball, instead of keeping it all a secret, they should have got all the line up(s) in place, and then made a big announcement, as more people would buy tickets right?....Still, I dont think Ike Willis or Napoleon Murphy Brock will be involved due to them and the ZFT falling out in the past, but I for one really feel Ike in particular has to be there, as to me, he is embedded in Zappa musical history and sung on more albums than any other singer......For more of my rants on this subject, find the posts on zappa.com!!

BBP - 10-11-2005 at 17:40

Should've been shaking hands and getting my picture taken with Da Dweez now...

Pappawas1975 - 10-11-2005 at 17:46

I thought about that the other day too....Wondering why Nov 2nd was a date of signifigance in my head, and then suddenly relaised.....Oh well, hopefully itll still go off on June 2nd.......

Puptent - 10-11-2005 at 17:47

Still no word from the ZFT whatsoever.. shouldn't they be in rehearsal by now?

"Silence is golden, golden... " :band:

BBP - 10-11-2005 at 17:49

Right! Positive thinking! It'll be worth it... I have less long to wait, until Ahmet's birthday. What shall I buy him? A soft-toy skunk?

Pappawas1975 - 10-11-2005 at 17:50

In theory, they shouldve been in rehearsal when they announced the shows in the first place, but they werent, to which we all thought "theyre cutting it a bit fine arent they?", then BAM!, postponement......Am still hopeful of the 2nd June though.....At least we didnt have to re-buy tickets, so my second row seats are still valid, and I didnt have to get up early for a BOX OFFICE WAR.....

BBP - 10-11-2005 at 17:53

I got up early for my VIP-ticket... months later, they were still for sale.

Pappawas1975 - 10-11-2005 at 17:55

Yeah, they werent on sale when I ordered mine, on the day of the tickets going on sale, then all of a sudden there they were, available to buy.....To be honest though, I wasnt really interested as, lets face it, Frank wasnt gonna be there, and the line up had not yet been fully announced, so a second row seat suited me fine....Fucking coolness if you are a Dweezil fan though......

Puptent - 10-11-2005 at 17:56

Yeah, I wouldn't know what to say to them anyway. "Gee, I really like your dad's music". It is a cool gesture, though,

Pappawas1975 - 10-11-2005 at 17:58

Exactly! Ok, there is that....oh, and the free bar...."Nice Vol au Vants Dweez....learnt Outrage At Valdez yet?"

BBP - 10-11-2005 at 18:01

My Dweezil fanhood has diminished over the past few months though... I'm sorta regretting my purchase of it... at least I'll meet Sebastiaan.

Puptent - 10-11-2005 at 18:16

Nah, it 'll probably be really cool. I had the opportunity to interview Herbie Hancock (who is one of my main inspirations on the piano) for my school paper once, and he was a great guy. Still wanted to ask him why his latest ten albums all sucked, though. :D

Pappawas1975 - 11-11-2005 at 09:07

Have you heard "Feets Dont fail Me Now"?...A classic HH album from the disco days! It does have its moments though! Im not too well versed on solo Hancock, only having Maiden voyage, Headhunters and Thrust.....Love all his work with Miles though..

Puptent - 11-11-2005 at 11:03

Yeah, as far as his acoustic playing goes, I really like the stuff he did with the Miles quintet. Another amazing record with Herbie on piano is Wayne Shorter's "Speak No Evil", recorded during the same time period.

His latest album features Christina Aguilera and a remake of Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called To Say I Love You"

Pappawas1975 - 11-11-2005 at 17:24

I think hes better remembered for his work with Miles Quintet then eh?....Nefertiti and E.S.P. especially.........

Pappawas1975 - 16-12-2005 at 11:02

Check this out guys, from Steve Vais website......Looks like things are on the upturn regarding ZPZ in June!!!
