Awoke before the dawn, strolled down to check the water level of the local creek.
Today it's a stream, full of 20 + ducks and ducklings discussing local politics…..

Good Morning - brought a $2 second hand tape of ELO Out of the Blue (second shop only had tape No2)- played nice in my NAK RX202 until it got to the end of the side and the tape unspooled itself into the machine lol - no damage done to the Nak but the ELO tape is toast ;) Thinking the old tape leader had unglued itself  At least it was not one of my original Zappa tapes eg Chunga and JABFLA  However Just looking online now maybe I should not have thrown it in the bin as Discogs and Fleabay say it worth $40 to $80 bucks :freak:

GrayGhost - 11-2-2023 at 00:15

^^^^^ Oh man, I munched my original Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers cassette last week, casting doubt
on the playability of a stack of my old favorites, including 100 + party mix tapes that,
according to the nephew, I should throw away, his cringe meter was maxed…..

Obviously the product of a poor upbringing…..

Rightyo time for a work out, fire up the turntable…..

Good morning trendsetters and welcome to a serene Sunday morning awaaaaay on out in the valley…..

Up with the birds and a stunning psychedelic sunrise, locally there's a strong wind watch in place,
the distant sky's are bruised and purple, as we speak the valley is as calm as calm can be…..

I wonder what little Ronnie random has teed up for the day…..

Good evening citizens and welcome to a wet and soon to be wild Monday evening awaaaaay on out in the valley…..

Tropical cyclone Gabrielle has flooded parts of the North and, as we speak
is beginning to drench thhti Auckland…..

GrayGhost - 14-2-2023 at 04:35

Good afternoon citizens and welcome to a blustery afternoon awaaaaay on out in the valley…..

Nothing doing at the coalface, sent home a couple of hours early…..

The government have issued a national state of emergency as tropical cyclone Gabrielle continues to march down the island
causing havoc at every turn.

Around 250,000 homes are without power, overnight two homes collapsed in a land slide at the very moment the fire brigade
were inside checking them for flood damage. One fireman was hospitalised they're still searching for a second…..

In the late 70's the valley was flooded from six to eight feet deep throughout, over the years since there's been extensive
flood remediation work carried out, but…..

We are banking on the local topography sending most of the storm down the east coast…..

But, until then…..

Certainly looks scary on the TV reports going round....

GrayGhost - 15-2-2023 at 07:39

Yes lads thankfully the cyclone passed us by, we got a little rain and a heavy wind watch….

Locally our main concern is always the mighty Hutt river (Te Awa Kairangi) when it went in the 70's
downtown cave central was six feet under…..

They still have the tide marks on the school flag pole…..

Unfortunately further north the devastation is mind blowing, the death toll is now four and counting.

Towns cut off with roads out bridges gone trees down and massive slips that took out homes on the way through…..Click for Pics

sadly the horse didn't make it…..

Good evening citizens and welcome to a wet 'n' windy Thursday evening awaaaaay on out in the valley…..

More rain throughout the day they're saying 44mm (1.73 inches) had fallen by 3:00pm…..
The little woman checked our rain gauge around 3:30pm, an easy 70mm (2.75 inches)
had fallen in on and around downtown pond central…..

Yes, our seasonal pond has returned, not a duck in sight although the frogs are back, tlw is convinced
their a family and has named them, this will not end well…..

Wanna buy a Mazda?

Enough doom and knee deep, on with the shooooow…..

Unless we have to gooooo a whoa whoa…..

Plook - 16-2-2023 at 22:34

Gray Kat and I followed the link to the flood pictures and we were amazed at the Biblica proportions of the damage, while we had some extreme rain and floods for 3 weeks in California (Nor Cal received 500% of a normal wet winters rain in that period) that damages while severe did not rival what your country got.

It could be due to the fact that the central valley especially in the Sacramento are and surrounding counties we are in a flood plain and therefore have incredibly extensive, large , and modernized levee systems to handle the water. But as we all know these can get overwhelmed as good as they are and they did but held up for the most part.

The Mazda warranty is rock solid…..Unless it's an EV (electric vehicle) then unfortunately
the warranty is void and the Mazda is a car no more…..

Oh man it's pretty shocking, there's a lot of harrowing stories coming out, the death toll is now 8.

We know most of these devastated places really well, and no longer recognize the television footage
or pictures of many.

It's going to take years for some places to fully recover, if ever.

We have around a dozen folks that we can't contact, but as the power's out taking the phone network
with it in their particular localities, we're hoping for the best.

Our man on the ground, Mr. T is equipped with Joe 90's sat' phone and astride his "adventure" motorcycle
is, as we speak weaving his way up country to check on a couple of the couples…..

the folks are all okay, which is a huge relief…..

warmish Friday eve away on out in the valley…..

More bad news for the saturated North of the North island and East coast,
as we speak there is an orange heavy rain warning in place,
and a band of thunder storms carrying a lot of rain is raking across most of the wrecked areas once again.
There have been a large number of preemptive evacuations, with civil defense already activated throughout the land
coordinating the clean-up.

The death toll is 11, with the number of missing/uncontactable now down to around 25…..

And with that, our weekend starts now…..
