Directly from my heart to you?
I left my heart in San Francisco?

scallopino - 3-3-2008 at 12:15

Directly from my heart to you is the one that you need, so fire away!

BBP - 3-3-2008 at 12:42

Is it Crew Slut? I hope Courtney never reads this because she might beat me up.

BBP - 4-3-2008 at 10:30

Sorry, no.

punknaynowned - 5-3-2008 at 07:43

I guess I must not be very good at these things.

I'm An Ugly Whore And A Bad Wife But I Probably Could Make Some Decent Music If I Stayed Off The Hard Stuff For A Little While But I Would Prefer To Get Wasted And Bash Other Women In Front Of Cameras

BBP - 6-3-2008 at 10:25

Neither one of those... Perhaps you're thinking too deep.

Hint: I've doubled the "correct" answers to 2 because there is another title I found that is equally apt in such a strong way that saying it's wrong would be very odd.

polydigm - 6-3-2008 at 13:47

Plastic People?

BBP - 6-3-2008 at 18:05

That's not one of them, sorry.

polydigm - 6-3-2008 at 21:30

Teenage Prostitute

BBP - 6-3-2008 at 22:04

No!

polydigm - 6-3-2008 at 22:27

Crew Slut? Tinseltown Rebellion?

[Edited on 6/3/2008 by polydigm]

BBP - 6-3-2008 at 23:30

No!

Need another hint, before you post the entire Zappa discography? ;)

polydigm - 7-3-2008 at 06:17

I'm not just randomly going through the discography. I've chosen titles that I thought might match.

Do I need a hint? Well, there's not a lot to go on. It's Courtney Love and I'm not sure she has anything directly to do with a Zappa title. Ignoring her name she's a blond with purple streaks in her hair and very full lips emphasised with radical lipstick.

Is she Jewish? Jewish Princess?

scallopino - 7-3-2008 at 11:07

Is it based on the name or the person? (The signifier or the signified?)

BBP - 7-3-2008 at 12:07

The signifier... You're so going to guess it now...

polydigm - 7-3-2008 at 13:50

Wild Love

BBP - 8-3-2008 at 00:47

That's one of them! Though when I came up with it, I was thinking of Dirty Love...

I can't even decide which one fits better...

polydigm - 8-3-2008 at 01:40

Okay, now it's my turn.

I think I can see where you got that from if you're the kind of person who's considered eating lotion. But, no.

It may not be lotion it might be some kind of cleanser, but that's not the point. The cartoon is hinting at what governments in general seem to do well, but if I say anything else I'll give it away. Okay, I'll narrow it down to the eighties albums.

scallopino - 9-3-2008 at 12:42

Fair enough, that's what I meant when I said I thought I could see where you got it from. Anyway, hasn't anyone got any idea?

Whipping Post?

punknaynowned - 11-3-2008 at 07:13

scallop, that's an Allman Brothers song!
but you're kinda on the right track.
Does it help if I said I had the song in mind before I went looking for the image?

polydigm - 11-3-2008 at 18:39

Greggery Peccary?

punknaynowned - 12-3-2008 at 05:20

no, sorry. It's a '60's song

D'oh!

scallopino - 12-3-2008 at 11:34

Stuff Up The Cracks? I really have no idea. What is it a picture of? A pink letterbox with bunny ears is what i've been thinking.

punknaynowned - 12-3-2008 at 23:18

Absolutely Free and Stuff Up The Cracks both work really well for this, I agree.
But it's not what I was thinking of.
You both have guessed three times.
Give up?
I think I'm not very good at this game . . .
:-(

polydigm - 13-3-2008 at 00:02

Help I'm A Rock? If not, try giving some clues.

punknaynowned - 13-3-2008 at 09:39

I took the picture at face value.
Somewhere I think there is someone who uses those Official US Postal Service envelopes to make art on and then posts them up on the street. Illegally, because they can.
Not exactly, high art obviously, a cute kind of vandalism (because it is intentionally impermanent) but that doesn't matter.
But so far, reading the thing for what it is, at face value. It has its own context that is not on the internet and is described as such on the item itself.
On the other hand we are posting notes on the internet in a frame that is already established as is. There's no defacing of anything, except for content which is text and images. No drawing or coloring outside of the lines here, so to speak.
I can't really be more explicit.
(:

[Edited on 13-3-08 by punknaynowned]

punknaynowned - 13-3-2008 at 09:45

what I did not consider when I posted this was that y'all are not use to seeing US Postal Service envelopes all over, all your life, like I do here.
More unfeeling Ameri-centrism:rolleyes:

polydigm - 13-3-2008 at 12:37

Hey punky, I'm even more confused now that you've explained it all.

:freak:

punknaynowned - 13-3-2008 at 13:56

hahahhahaahaa!

IT CAN'T HAPPEN HEEEEEEERRE!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahhahhahhahhahaa

punknaynowned - 13-3-2008 at 14:05

I work in a restaurant and made up a joke there. Acadian 2 may think it bland (:

I get a container of dijon mustard and show it to someone and ask, "Do you see this mustard?"
and when they reply in the affirmative, I answer "Dijon view."

Most often I get a quizzical look. They didn't get it. So sometimes I tell them simply, it gets better the more often it's told. Lately I've taken to showing them the mustard when they remark that they have deja vu. Even then sometimes they don't get it.
and these are smart people.

Badchild - 13-3-2008 at 15:07

Dijon View....sheesh!

did you ever have a waiter ask "two for lunch" and reply "Huh, no actually, were here for a bowling game"...

Meanwhile...

Look near the bottom of the previous page. Badchild posted a picture of a question mark and a picture of a very stupidly dressed doctor. Hence, Ask Dr Stupid. Badchild has not returned to put us out of our misery, but it's pretty obvious we're correct. Why don't you have a go at posting a challenge for us?

Penguins in Bondage? :-D

punknaynowned - 19-3-2008 at 05:55

ok we've already established I'm no good at this game. But I went to IINK for their songlist for help and I just couldn't believe some of the stuff I found there when you associate that picture with some of those song titles.
I didn't get past the 'A's! lol
here are some that are just so absurdly funny
:
A Bunch Of Adventures
A Game Of Cards
A Nun Suit Painted On Some Old Boxes
A Pig With Wings
# A Token Of My Extreme
# A Tunnel Into Muck
A Vicious Circle
Advance Romance
Alien Orifice
America Drinks
Another Cheap Aroma,
Artificial Rhonda

OK, I'll go away now

(As a side note, I'd like to add biddenden is Dutch for "the praying ones".)

scallopino - 20-3-2008 at 08:48

Nope. I admit that I could have chosen a more appropriate picture, but not one so interesting. Consider this: they are conjoined.

Nice try but no
The other site of the card says
Unter den Linden in Feststemmung
That means something as "Unter den linden" in holiday season
When you know wich city it is, you have half of the title.
The other half is in this text.

Card was sent from a specific town in Germany where my father was a convict during the second world war.

BBP - 22-3-2008 at 09:51

Is it Holiday in Berlin?

DED - 22-3-2008 at 19:42

BBP - 22-3-2008 at 22:27

DED - 23-3-2008 at 08:49

That's not a zappa song.
I think it is a dutch song
Roses, rum bonbons and red wine

I sit here in my latest short, in water that is cold
a little 40 years to old
and there you swim
You're not thinking of me since you fancy him
