Yes he said he was anyway! Blatant press stunt! We saw their first UK tour, back in 1990 or something, and Glen Benton came out to their sordid, cheap looking people carrier out front of the venue. Instead of being cool with us fans who were already outside the show, he went to the van pretending to be REALLY EVIL and PISSED OFF, opened the boot, took a sports bag out, then SLAMMED the door shut, and walked REALLY EVIL - STyle, back into the venue. We all just laughed, was quite embarrasing really.
The next night in Bradofrd, his bass was stolen and was nearly beatne up outside the gig for being an idiot - Not by the Christians though, but by people who just thought he was a dick! Great days and great shows though, gotta say Deicide did kick ass that night.....

Giant Robot kills by the way aqua....

aquagoat - 5-6-2006 at 07:56

That Benton's always made me laugh so much, he's so ridiculous, too bad, cause it's true Deicide was a cool band.

And yes, Giant robot's quite a good record, plus, it cost me nothing cause I downloaded it-you cannot find it anywhere anyway.

Pappawas1975 - 9-6-2006 at 19:10

Ha! Sorry mate.....Good old Venom eh? Absolutely dreadful, but ya just cant resist em......Played OZZY OSBOURNE Tribute today also - Great album, Randy Rhoads is amazing.....Followed by U.F.O. Strangers In The Night.....Quite a heavy day.....

aquagoat - 9-6-2006 at 19:39

Yeah, Venom sounds awful, the drums are... well let's not talk about the drums, they're too crappy, but you're right, you can't resist.

I remember when my ex-girlfriend bought it in 1989, we couldn't stop listening to it and doing the evil sign with our fingers when Cronos sang "In league with Satan", "Welcome to hell" or "Witching hour"( which is still a song I'd like to cover with a band, one day). Those were the days when we were young and wild.:D

"Tribute"'s the second Ozzy album I bought after "No rest for the wicked". That's really a great album for Rhoads fans (which I'm not really), I especially like Ozzy's approach to it, releasing it long after Randy's death. That's really a sign of respect for the boy, I think, so many other people would have released it just after the tragedy to make big bucks, record executives, for example.

[Edited on 9-6-2006 by aquabot]

Pappawas1975 - 10-6-2006 at 09:21

Not a Rhoads fan? Thats interesting. As far as live rock albums go, its a stormer I think. Never really heard "No rest....", apart from the singles that came from it, and after that record I kinda gave up on Ozzy solo stuff.....
Ended last night cranking this baby -

aquagoat - 10-6-2006 at 13:24

Let me make it clear, Rhoads was a great guitar player but Wylde influenced me more with his aggressivity on the instrument.

That slayer record, what can I say, it's a classic.

Fair enough mate, I wasnt questioning your opinion at al, after all, Im no guitar player so i cant talk!
Yeah, Reign In Blood is still amazingly good. I bought it when it came out, and it doesnt seem like 20 odd years ago! It doesnt sound like it was put out that long ago either......

Yeah, on their last live DVD they played the entirety of Reign in blood, I don't know whether it's good or not though, I haven't the occasion to listen to it yet. But it's got to be, Slayer live is always impressive.

Any good aqua? I lost interest in Immolation after the excellent Dawn Of Possession, which, incidentally, has just been re-released after years of being out of print.......Gotta pick it up again as I sold my original copy years ago.....

You sell albums? I usually hang on to mine even if they suck. (Except for that Lisa Loeb record, which I gave away.) Still got a 2 Unlimited CD around here somewhere.

Well, I discovered this band a few months ago (I've been listening to death metal since Death's Leprosy but for some reason i'd never bought any Immolation record before), I bought Unholy cult and it was like :shocked: then bought Close to a world below and Harnessing ruin within a month, so I guess I can say I like them a lot.

The album above is good but not as much as Unholy cult. I plan to buy Dawn of possession soon, so I can't compare both records yet. I don't think it has evolved a lot though since Dawn of possession.

You can watch to the video of the title track I posted above to form an opinion.

Cool, thanks man. Youll like D.O.P., its just so raw and brutal. Immolation were such a big names on the tape trading circuit, when that came out it was a monumental event!
I saw Immolation supporting Morgoth and Massacre in London back in 91 or 92, and they killed. Your post got me thinking - what happened to the great live bills like we had back in the day? Everything seemed more exciting then!

Guess its just a sign of age!

I kinda feel the same way about the PT album. After a few listens, it is a good album, but I cant help but feel it doesnt quite hit the mark somehow. Its certainly not quite up there with classic Patton related albums like Angel Dust, The Directors Cut, Adult Themes For Voice, etc.

I feel the same way about the Maldoror album. On paper, Patton with Merzbow is a mouth watering event, yet the album, while stil enjoyable, just doesnt quite hit the mark. Strange, but thats rocknroll I guess....

As for your query as to me selling Cds BB, the answer is DEFINITELY NOT ANYMORE! I did, in my silly, reckless early to mid teens, but I would never do it again. I definitely learnt my lesson. After thinking " Im never gonna listen to these albums again ", what happened about 6 months down the line? A tune from one of the said albums pops into my head, and Im all like " Shit! I remember that and I wanna hear the album again! ". I think in total I sold about 60 Cds over a period of about a year.

Most of the Cds I sold I have bought back, but thats not the point, as I could have been buying albums I didnt have previously and breaking new ground rather than replacing ones I sold.

You live and learn!

aquagoat - 2-8-2006 at 10:54

I used to run (100, 200, 400 metres) and did a bit of gymnastics (bars and floor). I stopped doing that seriously quite a long time ago now, but I started running and bodybuilding again a few weeks ago to lose all that fat I can't stand on me.

aquagoat - 9-8-2006 at 18:56

and that:

I received it this morning, listened to it twice this afternoon and will listen to it again in bed tonight. Well what can I say, it's not really dub except one or two tracks, but it's a "trippy" album. Some pieces make me think about a kind of hardcore Pierre Henry on speed. I've got to listen to it again to analyse it better, but I think I'm gonna buy more Merzbow records soon.

[Edited on 9-8-2006 by aquabot]

Pappawas1975 - 10-8-2006 at 08:50

I know what youre saying, I kinda agree. Merzdub is certainly more dub than his previous "dub" effort, "Merzbuddha". Important Records stated in the ads for Buddha about it being all dub, when in fact it really wasnt at all....This upset alot of hardcore Merzbow fans, and hence some were reluctant to buy Dub.
Havent read alot of feedback regarding it yet either, but Im still enjoying it. Its due for another listen, but Ive got so many albums to get through first!

aquagoat - 14-8-2006 at 08:30

punknaynowned - 4-9-2006 at 09:54

1969 06 06 London, first half
one of the last shows of the early Mothers
songlist:
01 Uncle Meat 3:23
02 drum duet 1:38
03 Some Ballet Music (primarily the horn section doing the part of greggory peccary 'if it's wide enuf, everyone will know, that the tie I'm wearing is a symbol of how nimble my mind will grow . . .' and later joined with percussion, 4:57
04 improvisation (much of this is very similar to that found at the beginning of the bbc king kong vid from '68, wish I had a video of this tho) 6:53
05 Big Leg Emma 2:35
06 Pound For A Brown intro, Frank tells the story of California surfers and their clothes and their station wagons with the panelling on the side 'which' Frank says, 'gets ya a lot of pussy', to a London audience, and the cultural varieties of the ever popular moon or 'brown out' and thus the name of the song; he then goes on to explain the different sections of the song as acting in place of visual aids, explaining the traffic, the buses, the roundabouts and the circumstances of this particular exchange between Jimmy Carl Black and Bunk Gardner: 6:40
07 Pound For A Brown ; remember the sound of the guitar on weasels? there ya go, 6:10
08 Sleeping In A Jar 14:18
09 Interlude 3:43

sound quality reminds me of old skool AM radio broadcasts, but the high end is sharp, I mean charp and clean, for the most part. In other words there seems to be a particular higher end frequency that seems natural, like what you'd hear in the hall that day but the rest seems compressed, clipped and or like the tape has gone thin

I don't think so, I've heard a few excerpts from Discipline and it didn't remind me of anything.

Pappawas1975 - 5-9-2006 at 08:40

Dont think it could be Discipline, Three Of A Perfect Pair or Beat, or indeed any 80s KC....My guess is The Konstruktion Of Light. I cant see a 70s Crimson album being tagged Industrial? If so, its an inaccurate tag. "Industrial" is such an over - used term

Camper Van Chadbourne, Let's Make The Water Turn Black/Absolutely Free medley from 20 years ago. As good an example of what I freaked out on 20 years ago. Great Album. So is Eugene Von Beethoven. Whats the verdicts on your recent Merzbow purchases aqua? Any favourites?

aquagoat - 15-9-2006 at 19:52

I v'e got 1930, Amlux, Merzdub, Merzbuddha and Merzbird now. and I ve listened to Music for bondage performance. My favourite is 1930, I like Amlux a lot, but I think 1930 is more violent and I really like that. Merzbird and Merzbuddha are fine but not as good as 1930 in my opinion. I'm gonna buy more records cause I've become a fan now. I don't know which yet, but I think Batzoutai is going to be one of them if no-one buys it before me.

npr, all things considered, a late afternoon two-hour show where they give three to eight minute newsstory segments. With single four-minute news wrap-ups that originate from the central day-long thread every 30 minutes.
the current segment at the end of this two-hour 'show' is about a new film -- is it a tv show? I'm not sure -- on the Queen of England, Elizabeth. They're talking with the actress portraying her.
