Some Kagel... :crying:
A vinyl copy of Cum Laude by Rick van der Linden (RIP)

And for my sis's B-day: some Dvorak and a a CD with the song in my prev post.

BBP - 22-9-2008 at 08:30

Yup... keep in mind they're Belgians, though... they'll be budget-bound.

Badchild - 8-10-2008 at 16:30

I bought....Joe's Menage....Joe's Xmage....Joe's Domage....and Joe's Corsage. I'm hoping they'll arrive this weekend for some joyous times...

BBP - 8-10-2008 at 18:02

Whoa! Sounds like you're up for some fun!

Badchild - 9-10-2008 at 08:30

Not for my kids!

BBP - 9-10-2008 at 10:55

Or the neighbors!

LaMarrBruister - 11-10-2008 at 21:38

Joe's Menage :-D

[Edited on 11-10-2008 by LaMarrBruister]

zombie1210 - 11-10-2008 at 23:09

The latest "Joe's GarBAGE" is embarassing.

Gail is pathetic. That release is total crap. The vault MUST be empty. They are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

BBP - 12-10-2008 at 20:58

Wazoo wasn't. Trance-Fusion wasn't. Buffalo and FZ:OZ weren't. I suppose the Joe's series are designed for the people who love that kind of material.

zombie1210 - 12-10-2008 at 21:18

There's nothing left.

Frank must be rolling over in his grave....

BBP - 12-10-2008 at 21:55

And how do you know nothing's left inside the vault? Didn't you see JT on the Classic Album documentary extras in that maze?

zombie1210 - 12-10-2008 at 22:04

Why would Gail release shit like the latest Joes?

Yeah...like we all need another version of Enema Bandit...and a crappy one at that...

BBP - 13-10-2008 at 09:39

Because there are people who like Joe's!

zombie1210 - 13-10-2008 at 13:59

?Very poor quality

Some people like lite beer.

Badchild - 13-10-2008 at 15:40

GO AWAY!

BBP - 13-10-2008 at 15:54

Now now guys, no hostility. If you like hostility go to the Zappa forum, which seems to have been intended for bullshitting, name calling, flame wars, trolling and spamming.

zombie1210 - 14-10-2008 at 00:00

Badchild must be against a person giving his opinion.

It is my opinion that Gail is a money grubbing bitch, and some of the releases are total garbage.

Just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

Listen up: You asked for it. There are people who like Joe's series. Tough luck if you don't. So stop whining about it.

zombie1210 - 14-10-2008 at 13:39

You listen up.

The last one is nothing but a lousy bootleg.

What will be next? Frank singing in the shower?

She is a disgrace to the Zappa name.

punknaynowned - 14-10-2008 at 15:32

not sure I'm the most impartial witness, but it looks like Bonny's expressed at least three different opinions and they all show her knowledgeable and varied understanding. And you zombie have expressed the same opinion, at least three times in a row. Just the same opinion.

I say more, not less, opinion please, miss zombie.

You should go start a I Hate Gail Forum for all your friends.....We promise to visit now and then!
You are, of course, welcome to post your opinion. However, try doing it in one single post. You know, get it out of your system once and for all. Then, if we think your opinion deserves debate, we'll post comments. See, that's called intelligent conversation! Otherwise, you are just pooting forth, hoping for an answer to your last post. That's called schoolyard blather or postering, whichever.

Just my opinion of course!

zombie1210 - 15-10-2008 at 13:46

Thanks for the lecture, Baddy.

Its nice to see that you hold yourself up so high on that pedestal.

Do you speak for everyone?

It's been a while since I bought a cd, but I think it was:

I think it's awesome.

BBP - 18-10-2008 at 09:15

Same here. Although now it's partially to blame to the lack of record stores in the town centre.

aquagoat - 18-10-2008 at 10:54

I almost no longer buy from record stores, it's too expensive.
That Sonic youth record is one of my favorites with Washing machine and Goo

BBP - 18-10-2008 at 12:04

Today I found a Faith No More VHS at the second-hand store! Hope my sister likes it!

Faith No More! What year is it from?

BBP - 20-10-2008 at 16:07

scallopino - 21-10-2008 at 05:26

Maybe it's because of the different languages.

BBP - 21-10-2008 at 08:09

Ah.
It's really weird when you look at international DVDs and their age code in respective countries... how a movie can be all ages somewhere and 12+ elsewhere.

Wildildlife: Six.
Transitional: Nothing real, nothing absent.
Starkweather: Croatoan.

Panic dhh: Panic drives human herds.

yes, I know his work a bit.

Ah OK. I was wondering why you'd wait for the album to arrive.

Hmmm.... it's been a while since my last bought record...

aquagoat - 3-11-2008 at 12:57

ok, I bougght them from Amazon, and it takes about 3 weeks to ship from the USA to France.

BBP - 3-11-2008 at 14:55

Ah. I'm also waiting on my most recent Amazon purchase: the Duckman DVD.

feetlightup - 7-11-2008 at 22:04

Lately I've been buying up Porcupine Tree's albums. All very nice so far - they're talented songwriters and musicians.

Last album I bought was CYNIC - Traced In Air. Been delayed like THREE TIMES NOW.

( I've had it already for months, but would like the actual disc nonetheless! )

aquagoat - 24-11-2008 at 21:49

I really like that Cynic album though I diddn't exoect much from it, being not a huge Cynic fan in the first place.

It is outstanding. Really has blown me away, actually, and I'm sure it will be in my end of year list.

Fuck knows why the thing keeps getting delayed though.

aquagoat - 24-11-2008 at 22:02

two albums that "blow me away" are Blotted science's The machinations of dementia and Sleep terror's Probing tranquility, two technical death metal albums without singers, but they're very interesting.

aquagoat - 24-11-2008 at 22:03

you can add Hunab ku's The gaze inward to that list.

BBP - 24-11-2008 at 22:08

I think the first link doesn't work because the forum engine isn't coping with the %20 characters, that is an example of special escape codes that are used on the internet to get certain characters through that aren't otherwise excepted, in this case %20 is the space character. These codes work alright in most browsers so if you cut and paste that link into a browser it does work.

The second link has variables which are the data that comes after the question mark. The previous zappa forum doesn't handle question marks either. As well as that problem you've included the link for the search not the link for the eventual picture you chose.

BBP - 25-11-2008 at 15:07

The second one doesn't work because it doesn't have an image extension. It's a regular page rather than an image.

Tool - Lateralus
Well, no one can say I haven't tried. This is my third attempt to get into Tool. Got Undertow when it came out, didn't like it, traded it in, got Aenima a few years ago, didn't like it, traded it in... maybe this one will stick, who knows. It was used and cheap, so no great loss if I fail once again. Why do I keep trying? Because I know there's something going on there, and I feel like I just haven't gotten it yet. Too metal for me perhaps, who knows...

Mogwai - Happy Songs for Happy People
Mil over at the zforum really likes these guys, so I decided to try them out (also used, cheap). Really like it so far - instrumental guitar soundscape type stuff, very richly textured stuff.

This is tool's best album, in my opinion.

I played it all the way through at my desk at work, and I think I already like it better than I usually like Tool. It needs a good sustained listen on the home system, but this good first impression is promising.

scallopino - 2-12-2008 at 05:09

The production is amazing on that album.

polydigm - 2-12-2008 at 07:42

My most recent acquisitions were

George Duke - Feel

It's not bad, the two Zappa solo efforts are cool.

Mahavishnu Orchestra - The Lost Trident Sessions

It's great hearing the studio versions of the tracks on Between Nothingness And Eternity.

Black Sabbath - Paranoid

An oldie but a goodie.

Pappawas1975 - 2-12-2008 at 11:52

Yeah, Lateralus is good. My favourite Tool album is Aenima though. 10,000 Days is ok too, actually....

Undertow is crap IMO.

BBP - 4-12-2008 at 16:08

Whoa! She spoilt you!

For St Nick, Dad gave me Zappa CVlassic Interview... which sucks... and which I had already... Meh. I'm having fun with the Bolero music box my sister gave me.

Pappawas1975 - 7-12-2008 at 21:45

Err.....It isn't until the 25th December?

BBP - 7-12-2008 at 23:40

St Nicholas is Sept 6th, and most people here celebrate that on St Nicholas Eve. You remember, with the Black Peter you once saw in The Netherlands. St Nick is celebrated with seasonal candy and dishes, gifts, surprise gifts (wrapped in a silly way), writing verse for each other, and placing your shoe in front of the fireplace (perhaps with a drawing or a carrot in it) so you get some little present in it the next morning. It was exported to the US by immigrants, who made St Nick a lot fatter, gave him a stupid laugh and a lot of reindeers, and substituded shoes with socks, presumably for hygiene reasons.

scallopino - 6-1-2009 at 09:36

It's a great album cover once more. Say Aqua, how many CD's are in your collection do you think? It must be quite a big one by now.

aquagoat - 6-1-2009 at 18:50

well, I don't really know cause a big part of it is still at my parents' house (630 km away from where I live now) but there must be around 1200 cd's in my collection now.

BBP - 6-1-2009 at 19:18

 Must be terrible to have your collection split in such a way... I'm even annoyed by some of my records in another room!
What's in your collection? Aside from piles of metal?

aquagoat - 6-1-2009 at 19:45

dub, reggae, jazz, funk, classical stuff, hip-hop, trip-hop, progressive rock, contemporary stuff, brazilian music, afrobeat, etc, etc...
Yes, it's terrible having my collection split like that, but when I moved to live with my girlfriend I also had to leave most of my guitars and recording material, actually, I only arrived in that new town with all my clothes, one guitar and 10 cd's.:-( But i hope I'll be able to get all my stuff here in 2009, perhaps this summer.

scallopino - 7-1-2009 at 08:45

What's in your guitar collection? I'm glad that your original 10 cd's decided to create a whole community.

aquagoat - 8-1-2009 at 19:19

a Yamaha Rgx, don't remember the number, a ESP m307, a strat-like Epiphon that I modified, an Aria pro II RS wildcat and an Ibanez 6 string btb bass.

[Edited on 9-1-2009 by aquagoat]

scallopino - 9-1-2009 at 06:34

I'd never heard of Arias before now. Is it one of the copies they do?

aquagoat - 9-1-2009 at 22:30

it's a japanese company that built this guitar, mine was black, it's a cheap guitar that I modified, I removed the original paint and decorated it for a friend who finally gave it to me.
