Plook on Tour

Plook - 22-4-2024 at 16:53

It is 10 years ago today the Terri passed away, I have posted this before but people found something in it that they related too, so here it is again.

Numbers 4/22

We all have Numbers a birth date, a graduation date, a marriage date, the date our child was born, the day someone we loved passed. We carry these Numbers throughout our life, we celebrate them, we dread them, we can have many numbers with many feelings attached good and bad sometimes both.

I have one of those Numbers April 22nd, it is at once one of the best days in my life and the one of the most painful days of my life so let’s do this by the Numbers.

April 22 2014 8 years ago this is a day a bad day the day that I lost my wonderful wife of 31 years another number, she had been diagnosed with breast cancer a couple years before had a partial mass, triple chemo, radiation twice and became cancer free. A couple months after her port was removed, she began having some balance issues and ultimately was diagnosed with 3 large brain tumors, another number.

She had Gamma Knife surgery and they got two completely and 98% of the third more numbers, everything was going well but she had a really bad reaction to a drug she needed to be on for the surgery and blew a hole in her colon. She ended up in the hospital had a colon surgery that failed 10 days later and the did the very massive surgery again.

Well, she never really came back after the second surgery she was in a post medical delirium and after 30 days at the hospital they moved her to a private hospital ICU in Folsom, yes more numbers.

After being there weeks, she came down with pneumonia and deteriorated very fast and since she was on an air tub keeping her breathing the doctors suggested if I wanted I could have it removed, I knew Terri didn’t want this we had discussed it at length. I contacted her family to give them time to get here and we set the date Tuesday April 22 2014 at 11:00 am, so many numbers.

Terri was always in control whether you knew it or not, and so it was on Tuesday April 22nd. It was a beautiful spring day in Folsom California, the type of day Terri loved, cloudy with sun sometimes your warm, sometimes it’s cool.

We had several family and close friend’s bed side telling stories and reminiscing, laughing more and crying some.

At 11:00am our scheduled time for Terri’s departure I asked the staff when we could start and they said the doctors were late we needed to by law and both were stuck at other hospitals.

It was approximately 11:15, when I asked for the room, everyone left and I shut the door and drew the privacy curtain. Outside the clouds were obscuring the sun, so the light in the room with a large window was subtle.

I explained to Terri how much I loved her and how I have been dreaming of her every night and I want her back. I told her she fought so hard and so valiantly, that it was ok and to go to her mother, my dad, her stepmom, all her grandparents, all of her and my relatives, and even our good dog Bella…they were all waiting to guide her across…

The machines tracking her vitals began to drop steadily, the nurse knocked and entered she tried to bring Terri’s heart rate back up, she said uh ho. I called my son in law in the lobby and said get everyone in quick.

All arrived in time to see her pass and as she did the clouds parted and the sun came out, the light shone through the window and illuminated her peaceful face, it was 11:30 am.

The doctors couldn’t figure out how she passed on the machine because she not had another catastrophic failure, she just simply passed and they had never seen it before and actually said it seemed impossible, I told them my wife was always punctual.

We walked outside to see a magnificent sight of the entire area surrounded by clouds and the sun shining down on this little hospital on top of a hill.

As we looked up and imagined my wonderful wife’s spirit rising, a lone prison siren wailed from nearby Folsom Prison for just about a half a minute.

Typical Terri she always made a spectacular entrance and exit effortlessly, never late and always in control, she didn’t wait for the doctors and she didn’t let the machines stop her.

Needless to say that is a rough number for me but I have another Number it is April 22, 1978 one of the best days of my life the day I met my wife 44 years ago.

I was 19 years old and dating a girl, we were going to a hard rock concert at the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood on Friday April 21th 1978, that afternoon she called and said she was sick and couldn’t go. After mentally analyzing a very long list of friends I could ask to attend, I choose to call Roger who was a guitarist in a Garage Rock Band. I figured he would value the guitar work of the band playing, not one of my closer friends but a logical choice.

Roger accepted the invitation we drove to Hollywood, rocked out, and drove home. We got off the 605 freeway we were only a couple blocks from my parents’ house about to turn and Roger turned to me and asked, “Would you like to go to my girlfriend’s apartment, she has a roommate?” it was 12:05 am April 22, 1978.

Being a young red blooded American boy, I said “yes”, and we turned right instead of left. That roommate I met was Terri a stunning blond beauty, tall, long legs, great shape, and smart as hell, I was in way over my head but somehow it worked she liked me and we began dating …I have never before or since appreciated which way a car turned more.

Those are my Numbers good and bad.

Poly - I trained about 40 people for about 4 months to take the Remote Construction Manger jobs, that was tough but I did a professional job of it and got a couple of accommodations.

Some people called and asked how I can do it, but it kept me in the game, so I kept getting extended.

Now I do Site Acquisition to do site analysis of what is needed for the cell tower jobs, apparently I am a fish in water on this and picked it up pretty quickly, but I am still learning some nuances.

The new twist is now I am reviewing other contractors work, a little different than actually training.

The goal at this point is to keep plowing along and keep my job as long as possible.

I have found the people I am interacting with know I have skills and I am able to adjust to different work, that has always been my strong point even though I'm a dumbass...

Eddie RUKidding - 23-4-2024 at 22:11

Hope you just have good numbers from now on Plook

Plook - 6-6-2024 at 00:02

It’s Plook on Tour Breaking News!!!

I got a call at work last week about interest in me starting a new Quality Program for Site Acquisition...:drums:

Although I am happy as a clam doing what I am currently assigned too Site Acquisition Reviewer, I still have an expiration date of August 23…:(

My response was I will do anything I am assigned too and my first question was does that mean I will be extended past my scheduled release…The answer "I can’t guarantee it but if you do well I could see you staying for the foreseeable future"…

On Monday we had a meeting in which I was assigned to create a Checklist and Tracker for the reviewing of the reviewers (I think Frank would have appreciate that…) and that we would meet today to check my progress.

In the meeting this morning I had a completed Checklist and Tracker, I am slated to start tomorrow, there are a lot of logistics to iron out due to the fact that it is a National Program with 14 Market Areas…

So time to create a Rub Goldberg Machine…:freak:

Plook - 29-6-2024 at 01:23

It’s a Plook on Tour Bad News Addition

My daughters are in So Cal because their grandfather (Terri’s Dad) was put in Hospice at his home after being hospitalized for a month.

He took a fall at the end of May and has gone steadily downhill, he is 88. His mind is good but he is a big dude always was he is 6’3” and about 300 pounds.

He was taken initially to a crappy hospital in the High Desert, when my oldest daughter that works in medical research got there, she got with Terri’s brother and said they had to get him out of there. They got him moved to an excellent hospital in Ontario but he would make progress then decline a real rollercoaster ride.

Last week the Hospital bean counter came to them and said they had to move him to a different facility, back to the shit hole. They battled with them and got a compromise that they would move him home (where he wanted to go anyway) and get him a hospital bed and a hospice nurse.

Both my daughters flew there (second time in 4 weeks) to help with the transition and it got him in good spirits to have all the grandkids there.
Before he made it home Thursday my younger daughter was talking to him and he asked if she thought he should give in and die, she told him if he is ready go but if he wants to fight that is ok too.

I know why he asked that question, during my Plook on Tour days of travel I often went to So Cal and I would stop at his house to spend the night we would have dinner and sometimes breakfast together. I was at his place many times a year over the 8 years I was on the road full time.

He and I have talked at least once a month usually more like 2 or 3 times since Terri passed, he used to ask me about my rounds of golf. He had to stop playing close to 20 years ago and enjoyed me describing how I played.

I remember this vividly; It was 2015 we were having dinner at his favorite Mexican Restaurant and he said “You know I go to Church every day some days 2 or 3 times, I did so much bad stuff I am trying to find a way to get into heaven with Jackie (his second wife) and Terri”.

He was a “Made Man” and did the stuff that they do, in the late 70’s a guy Terri was working for tried to rape her I wanted to go whoop him but Terri said no my dad will take care of it, the next time we saw him he was in a wheel chair with two broken knees.

So today I made arrangements with my daughters to call and let me speak to him myself, when I did, I thanked him for treating me so well. I told him Kat wanted to thank him for being so gracious and welcoming to her when we went to see him before we got married (he gave us his blessing) and I told him my sister is praying for him…then I said I know you worry about how this will turn out but I assure you will see Terri and Jackie, you have done your penance and you will be just fine.

He thanked me and we said goodbye…:(

Plook - 30-6-2024 at 12:48

Dick passed yesterday peacefully surrounded by his grandkids as his clock chimed the half hour at 6:30 pm Pacific Time...Free at last, free at last.

I’m looking for some truth

With you I see it good

It makes me be a pirate

The booty looks so good

The honey badger

And the jellyfish

Will wrestle all the day

Although we are too old

We beat the boots all day

We sail that sea so much

Navigators we must be

I’ll see you Friday Night

When we go back out to sea

The old romantic fool

Will be cumming out of me

Kat said no way am I sleeping on the streets, so I got Agent to move us to a room, now she says it's too close to the water...:freak:

More to come!!!

Plook - 22-9-2024 at 01:35

I have been working super long hours and have not found time to put some pictures from the concerts together but hopefully soon.

Tomorrow is my B-day saw my doctor Thursday full blood panel was excellent I am still keeping weight down to around 190 give or take.

I will head golfing at the butt crack of down, I have been playing well shooting 4 to 6 strokes under my average for over a month.

I believe Kat wants to take me to the casino tomorrow afternoon that should be fun.

I got suspended off a website called Next Door it is a nationwide neighborhood chat site. The MAGA people are getting wrestles and posting all kids of crazy stuff they are totally cult like.

I got into it with them on a Post Thread which all of the stuff is against the guidelines of a friendly neighbor site so they came after us for breaking rules.

I appealed saying I was just supplying counter points using accredited data sites I attributed, will see if I win I should hear something by tomorrow or Monday.

Happy B'Day Plook :bald:

BBP - 23-9-2024 at 21:55

Hope you had a great birthday!

Plook - 25-9-2024 at 20:28

Birthday update…:drums:

From Nature to Sin City...

I went Golfing at the butt crack of dawn per usually, it was a fine day and I played well shooting 40-41 for an 81 with 8 pars and 10 bogeys and only 28 putts…

My lucky day continued when Kat took me to the Casino, we grabbed a drink and she headed to the penny slots while I made my way to the Crap table…

I started with $300 on a $10 table, every time I covered the table at about $100 the roller would 7 out and even though I won money my funds were dropping I was down to $100 when the unassuming brunette 20 something stepped up to the table with the dice…:freak:

The table changed to a $15 table everything was looking lost, the roll began with a point 9, I placed a 6 & 8 and also played the field so I had $85 out there and one 7 out and I was done…:forumsmiley145:

She hit several fielded numbers and every time she did, I placed a number until I had all the place bets. She was also throwing a lot “Hard Ways” (2/2 3/3 4/4 5/5) which pay 4 & 10 7.1 and 6 & 8 pay 9.1, and hitting the point, hitting 7 on openers as well as "yo" or "yo-leven" (11), and sometimes craps which losses your pass line bet but I always place a $3 to $5 dollar crap bet to cover my pass line bet and a couple bucks extra (its like insurance)

The Table was one like this I stay away from the “Hop” bets (Hopping Hard Ways) and “All Small” “All Tall” & “Make Them All”, occasionally I play the horn but that is a gut bet since it is only good for one roll (I have had that "it is going to be box car" feeling before which is 6/6 and hit the 31 to 1 bet if you play it as a Horn Bet it pays 3.75 to 1 but it includes any craps and eleven)

The payouts were pouring in the table was covered like a glove all the points were pressed to double so every roll paid at least $15 and some were coming in at $50. At some point I realized I had over $1000 in the rack…:guitar:

When she finally 7 out I had $240 on the table and close to $1800 in the rack, I had their money so I went for a parley and lost $500 in about 5 to 10 minutes and decided to get the hell out of there and cashed out at $1,133.00…:bouncy:

When we left we discovered Casino-Henge on the Fall Equinox was rocking...

Eddie RUKidding - 26-9-2024 at 03:03

Nice one Plook, Mrs Eddie managed to win $200 at the local Pub raffle on the weekend- not quite up to Casino standards here :D

Plook - 24-10-2024 at 00:06

I am ridiculously behind on posting, the new job has me working from the butt crack of dawn until evening hours.

I started my deck fix project and it is turning into the money pit, the deck is over 700 sq. Ft. and the guy I hired had to replace over 500 sq. ft. of it material alone has reached $3400.00...

The guy asked for $1200 but I think I should at least pay him $1500 or more it was a lot of work.

He started painting today...:bouncy:

The Pool guy comes to reline the pool next Friday and that is $7000...:freak:

Pictures to come...;)

Eddie RUKidding - 24-10-2024 at 02:30

No rest for the wicked hey Plook :D

Plook - 5-11-2024 at 23:48

Well it is election day in the US and we get to use that 18th Century system called the Electoral College.

A democrat has to win by at least 2% to have a chance at getting the presidency and that is not a guarantee.

Joe Biden won in 2020 by just under 5% and he nearly lost the Electoral college.

Ironically the Founding Fathers invented it to prevent someone who wasn't qualified or had bad designs on the Presidency from getting in, now it allows someone like that to get in the White House.

Republicans will never allow that system to be removed because they would never win a National Election again...it is all so exhausting...:offtopic:

Eddie RUKidding - 6-11-2024 at 02:04

Ar least you do still have elections............. for now :shy:

My knock-down 6 iron on #8 a 140 yard par 3 was headed to the hole but stopped 10 feet short...:freak:
