Hey, Aquagoat, I notice you took the wammy bar off. Was the mechanism too cheap? I had to take the wammy bar off my Squire Strat, because the
mechanism was crap and kept putting the guitar out of tune. I'm not really into playing with a wammy bar anyway.
aquagoat - 11-1-2009 at 11:17
yes, the mechanism is cheap, I usually don't use the whammy bar with that kind of system. I like the whammy bar, you can do lots of funny things
with it but only with Floyd rose types otherwise you go out of tune too quickly, it's boring.
BBP - 11-1-2009 at 12:09
But how can you play the intro of Those Damn Blue Collar Tweekers without whammy bar?
aquagoat - 11-1-2009 at 18:45
with a bottleneck.

Vinyl:
Concerto for Group & Orchestra - Deep Purple and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Piet Hein Rapsodie - Van Anrooy
And on CD, at merely 1 E: Rooster - Alice in Chains.
BBP - 21-1-2009 at 18:06
And I just discovered it came with a bonus copy of Deep Purple In Rock. Well, not really bonus, I just paid for it... not to mention the fact that we
had two copies of it already.
aquagoat - 5-2-2009 at 20:29

The last record is: Dirge: Wings of lead over dormant sea.
aquagoat - 12-2-2009 at 19:43

BBP - 12-2-2009 at 21:56
Bought a VHS of Alice In Chains - MTV Unplugged.
BBP - 8-3-2009 at 15:28
YES!!! CD fair in Waalre led me to finally completing my Zappa collection with:
The Lost Episodes!!!
I also got:
FZ In Barcelona DVD
and...
200 Motels DVD
(Yes, I know they're not exactly proper copies, but I'm way too happy to be able to watch 200M!)
scallopino - 9-3-2009 at 14:14
Congratulations! There was a guy who came to my university market twice a week who sold those kind of dvds. I got 200 Motels (pretty good quality
too!) and was about to get the Barcelona one when he suddenly stopped coming! Such a shame. Another one I got from him was Stockholm In Bondage (not
as good quality).
BBP - 9-3-2009 at 14:50
I'm really looking forward to watching 200 Motels... Shame you didn't get Barcelona. I'll tell you if it's worth it!

here we go for the records of the month:

[Edited on 4-4-2009 by aquagoat]
BBP - 4-4-2009 at 12:27
I have that Gojira album. How do you like it?
aquagoat - 4-4-2009 at 15:01
it's quite good, a bit trippier than their previous two albums, I like it very much even if it will surely take a few more listens to fully
appreciate it. Their new record, The way of all flesh, didn't strike me much, though.
[Edited on 4-4-2009 by aquagoat]
BBP - 4-4-2009 at 15:57
I liked it, Backbone's a great song... but I wasn't a big fan of their environmental lyrics.
BBP - 14-4-2009 at 18:16
Today I got the Best of Dutch edition of the Phantom Of The Opera.
...before you kill me, please remember that Steve Vai is a fan of Lloyd Webber, and that Henk Poort is considered by Lloyd Webber to be the best
Phantom, and that the Dutch translation is a lot better than the English lyrics.
aquagoat - 23-4-2009 at 19:20

scallopino - 24-4-2009 at 10:06
Billy Cobham! I have that on record. I think the cover is different though.
aquagoat - 24-4-2009 at 17:13
I downloaded it yesterday after reading the 5 best guitarists topic on the Zappa forum, and ordered it right away. More records soon.

BBP - 4-5-2009 at 18:29
My most recent purchases:
Beavis & Butthead Experience
Florence Foster Jenkins & Friends: Murder On The High C's. The complete Florence Jenkins! Unfortunately the rest is a compilation of very
good artists with performances that the editor didn't appreciate; but comparing them to FFJ is beyond cruel.
I also got an Oliver Greif album and a Piazzola collection, but I gave those to my friend for her birthday.

aquagoat - 6-5-2009 at 17:47
yes, and the music is good too, so are the other records, btw.
scallopino - 9-5-2009 at 15:10

Dylan and the Band - the infamous 'Royal Albourt Hall Concert'. It's as good as they say. Listening to this has been one of the great
listening experiences of my life.

What's that olive green one? (Is that olive green?)
aquagoat - 16-5-2009 at 13:10
actually, the link was dead, so I changed it.
BBP - 16-5-2009 at 13:17
And there I was, thinking somebody finally took a step aside from the bland standard monochromy and used an interesting colour...
How is it?
aquagoat - 16-5-2009 at 14:59
a bit like pole:

BBP - 25-5-2009 at 14:22
Raided the local 2nd-handstore which this time round had much in the classical department.
So I got:
Official soundtrack to Shaka Zulu
Cassette with Bach, CPE Bach, JCF Bach and JL Krebs: Flute & Organ sonatas
LP with Amy Beach Concerto in C-sharp minor for piano and orchestra op 45 + DG Mason Prelude & Fugue for piano & orchestra

Hey Aqua, are you buying all those on vinyl? When do you find time to listen to them all, you must have a huge number of albums by now.
aquagoat - 12-10-2009 at 19:33
never on vinyl, my opinion about vinyl is simple and here it is: Vinyl=crap, I could explain the different reasons why I came to this conclusion but
it would be too long.
I usually liten to music a bit in the morning when I go to work and when I come back from work around 5 pm, then after dinner I rarely watch tv but
more often listen to music from 7h30 pm to abut 11h30 pm.
Aty week-ends I often start listening to records from 8h30 am to 12h and, depending on what I have to do in the afternoon, from 1h30 pm to 11h30 pm,
sometimes to 3 am. I can't listen to as much music as I would like due to my job, but thanks to that said job I can buy many more records than I
used to.
A part of my collection is still at my parents' house, about 1000 cds I think, when I moved to where I live now I hadn't got enough room so
I left them there. I only came with about ten cds. At that time, my girlfriend's collection had 97 cds, now she's got 109 cds (I bought this
cds for her) and I've got 206 records.
polydigm - 12-10-2009 at 22:03
Yes, I gave up on vinyl a long time ago. I still have a vinyl collection, but I only listen to some of the stuff that's not available otherwise
and then hardly ever. For example, I have an album that's a sound track to a rock opera called "Boy's Own McBeth" by Grahame Bond
that you bought at the performances. There's a song on there that I like playing and I hadn't done it for a while and forgot some of the
lyrics, so I dug it out. I haven't found time to do a digital recording of it yet, which is the main reason I bought the turntable I have with
the built in USB. I have plenty of CDs to listen to, so it's only the curiosities that keep dragging me back.

I got this one from a friend, and I'm very happy with it! Unfortunately I have to listen to it on our downstairs stereo: the CD is trapped in
that player. The spring's come off.

you must have a huge collection by now
aquagoat - 5-5-2010 at 20:30
I've got more than 1000 cds, but I can't tell you how many, exactly, because a part of my collection is at my parents' house. But it
will soon come back to my house since my girlfriend & I are looking for a new flat with an extra room for all these cds plus my guitars and
recording machine, mics, etc, etc...
[Edited on 7-5-2010 by aquagoat]
DED - 22-5-2010 at 10:35
we have here around 800 albums on vinyl, 400 45's around 30 8-tracks hundreds of reel to reel tapes small and large mixed. Around 70 CDi's,
200 CD-roms and also maybe a 900 to 1000 cd's Apart from that we have 400 compact cassettes and 3 yes only 3 dcc cassettes.
We have aprx 4 or 500 videocassettes with movies, music, family, toons and so on. (I combined VHS,V2000 and Betamax and VHS-C. DVD and dvd rom I think
200. To complete 1 1"video reel to reel tape Sony (but no equipment) 1 Philips videotape (reel) and equipment but not the slightest idea how to
connect the thing, and 5 laserdiscs including equipment. One (broken) 78 rpm his masters voice And I am sure I forget things.
I hope you will find your extra room, I will find myself a hangar or so .
aquagoat - 22-5-2010 at 18:25
a hangar would be fine for me too, actually...
BBP - 28-5-2010 at 17:34
I've skipped many recent additions, such as the Moke album and the Chet Baker album my sister got me for my birthday, and the Frank Sinatra vinyl

Local second hand store had a massive collection of metal CDs. I left most, since my sister had quite a few of the Cradle of Filths and Deicides I
saw. I did acquite:
Sick Of It All - Built to Last
After Forever - Decipher (Yes, yes... You know I saw them live in 2002? I nearly bought that album at full price but a friend talked me out of it when
she said it tired. For under two euros I dared risk it.)
God Dethroned - The Christhunt
Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle Earth
Dimmu Borghir - Spiritual Black Dimensions

which came with a live show @ Brandeis University 1963, all in 3 discs
Thelonius Monk complete blue note recordings, '48-'58 in 4 discs
plus duckman season 1,2 finally got here ... I hadn't realized the first or pilot episode was dedicated to Frank Zappa as he had just died some
months before!!
also Reefer Madness The Musical came in, there's a bunch of youtube clips up for that but it is a very funny movie whatever one's opinion
about the evil weed and also captures a lot of American stupidity
