good to hear Bonny have fun :bouncing:

BBP - 21-10-2024 at 18:41

It was! I got back yesterday. One of the highlights was a visit to the zoo, where I saw a lot of tigers and walked with penguins.

Plook - 23-10-2024 at 23:58

Sounds fun good for you!

BBP - 27-10-2024 at 20:27

Survived the first week after my holiday. Sometimes people have genuine complaints but a lot of them fall in the range of "my TV was too small."

Eddie RUKidding - 27-10-2024 at 22:58

Good work Bonny :D

Plook - 29-10-2024 at 19:37

Dweezil is starting another Tour in January...:guitar:

BBP - 29-10-2024 at 21:07

Ooh! Where's he going?

Plook - 31-10-2024 at 02:07

All over US nearest to me is Monterey Bay but it is a Thursday so I may not go unless I head to Napa Valley on Friday, will see...:puzzled:

BBP - 31-10-2024 at 20:07

OK so no way in which I'm going to see him live. Oh well.

High season rush of the complaints dept seems to be over. Doesn't make the complaints any better though.

"My TV was too small..." sigh.

Plook - 1-11-2024 at 20:15

Come to the US and se them!

BBP - 1-11-2024 at 21:25

Hon I work in the travel inustry and can get a significant discount, but I still cannot afford that...

Plook - 2-11-2024 at 21:53

You can always stay at Plook Palace Kat & I would welcome you and the BF...:)

BBP - 7-11-2024 at 23:04

LIfe in general is something I'm trying to take slow after the hectic period with more hectic coming up, as our house will undergo maintenance soon (we get new windows and solar panels, among others). Inbetween I relax by watching seals and knitting socks.

Eddie RUKidding - 7-11-2024 at 23:32

So something like this ;)

BBP - 8-11-2024 at 20:51

Awwww how gorgeous!

The seals I watch are harbour seals (common seals) and their pups are typically grey and sleek at birth unless they're premature. I knew for years I had a weak spot for them. When Seal Center Pieterburen went viral in August they started a massive social media outpouring on Youtube and other social media - and I'm not complaining!

Eddie RUKidding - 11-11-2024 at 01:03

Just listening to this - thought Plook would appreciate it

Our government is about to fall and a local municipality misplaced 50 artworks during a renovation.

We are a nation of idiots.

Eddie RUKidding - 16-11-2024 at 00:46

Check the Councilors homes

BBP - 18-11-2024 at 21:41

Big day was today, when we got new windows pretty much everywhere. It's been a lot of hard work getting the net curtains and regular curtains down (and repairing and washing them) and up again, plus making sure that every major window has 1.5 m playroom behind it. Glad we have that behind us. In three weeks' time we'll get solar panels.

Eddie RUKidding - 18-11-2024 at 22:23

Sounds like a lot of work

BBP - 19-11-2024 at 15:55

To the extent I took half the day off to go home and rest. Couldn't sleep for days.
zzz

BBP - 22-11-2024 at 22:37

Enjoyiing the weekend, time to rest from this week and finally do the laundry I couldn't do while we had other things to do.

Oh fudge and then again st nicholas shopping, shoot.

In local news, cops found a garden gnome made entirely out of MDMA.

Eddie RUKidding - 23-11-2024 at 06:32

A stoned gnome

BBP - 23-11-2024 at 16:54

Enjoying the weekend, doing household chores and knitting socks. I'm using an old Dutch pattern, which is fun.

Plook - 28-11-2024 at 17:25

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

BBP - 28-11-2024 at 20:17

Happy Thanksgiving, or as we call it, Thursday!

Plook - 30-11-2024 at 17:35

^^^ Bonny, Kat got a good laugh from that one...

BBP - 30-11-2024 at 23:00

Aw thanks!

My days are made brighter by Ariel, one of the seals in the seal center. She is quite the escapologist and, in the past week, the staff had to catch her every day to give her medication and fish. She's had me in stitches!

It's Zappadan and I'm so overworked I haven't even found the time to play some FZ. I'm worried.

Did it crack or is it ok

Plook - 6-12-2024 at 15:38

We are good it was over 200 miles away but when the earth gets to rocking it can be felt for some way...It was up near Fortuna CA very remote...Bigfoot country up there not far from where the Patterson Film was shot.

BBP - 7-12-2024 at 23:53

Explosion in the Hague cost 5 lives. Dad's glued to the screen to see what's happened in his home town. Busy day tomorrow with groceries and moving him back to his bedroom.

Started Zappadan yesterday and am already am at JABFLA.

BBP - 8-12-2024 at 21:31

Day later, I'm at ZINY.

So two days ago I got started with Freak Out, Absolutely Free, We're Only In It For The Money, Lumpy Gravy, yesterday I played (not Ruben, CD turned out to be damaged so I gave it a miss) Hot Rats, Weasels Ripped My Flesh, Burnt Weeny Sandwich (still a firm favourite) , Chunga's Regenve, Fillmore East, Just Another Band From L.A., and Waka Jawaka.

Today Grand Wazoo, Over-Nite Sensation, Apostrophe ('), Roxy & Elsewhere, Bongo Fury, Zoot Allures, and am now on Zappa In New York. Great thing is it combines well with the baby seal livestream I am now glued to.

In baby seal news - the storm in the UK and the Netherlands has orphaned a lot of seals, so over the weekend, 5 grey seals were brought in, the first grey seal pups of the season. These have a white furry coat and are a lot bigger than the harbour seal, and they're also very cute.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJbeh2KMV4M

BBP - 9-12-2024 at 23:35

sooo... toau I could play 200 Motels at work, Studio Tan, Orchestral Favorites and Joe's Garage in full.

Eddie RUKidding - 10-12-2024 at 01:40

nice, I was just playing Playground Psychotics :D

BBP - 10-12-2024 at 11:34

Totally agree!

BBP - 11-12-2024 at 16:36

I got to play Sheik Yerbouti at work.

Unfortunately the home situation has been much lately, with the works. Today we got new French doors, which meant that 1,5m behind the doors had to be cleared of all furniture and junk. Of course that'the place where Dad slept since his stint at the hospital last year. So past weekend and yesterday I cleared out the spare bedroom (that was my office but that had never really got clean since the 2010 deaths of my grandmother and great aunt).

After that I could move one of the closets to the other side to make room for Dad's bed, then move my desk to the attic to make a workspace for Dad, then move the desk chair to the ground floor, move the ground floor desk chair to the attic for that work space, and then move Dad's bed upstairs. Of course since Dad has like no muscle strength or oxygen left, I could do it all myself. Consequently I'm exhausted to the point I left work early.

So now I'm listening to the rest of Sheik Yerbouti.

The AIVD puzzle has been released , so that's what I'll be doing the next month.

Eddie RUKidding - 12-12-2024 at 00:20

Sheik Yerbouti is good stuff, sounds like a lot of hard work at your place.

PS Being Eddie means I like the Flo & Eddie Stuff

BBP - 12-12-2024 at 20:50

My dad is an Eddy but I don't think Flo and Eddie would be his jam.. He is aware of Eddie Are You Kidding though, immortalised in one of the finest threads here:

http://packardgoose.ploeg.ws/interactive/forums/Files/viewth...

Eddie RUKidding - 12-12-2024 at 21:40

very funny and a long thread :D

Plook - 14-12-2024 at 15:58

Bonny, Kat and I have been doing musical furniture around the palace for several weekends. Kat bought all new furniture for the spare room and between building that and merging and moving two houses of stuff around and stuff from the room and garage to storage it has absorbed some time.

Conclusion we have way to much stuff and need to have a yard sale come spring.

The dresser I am scheduled to assemble today is Ikea on steroids, I checked out the directions and the number of parts and mass quantities was astounding.

As to Sheik Yerbouti it was the first Zappa concert I saw on Nov 20th 1977 at the UCLA Pauley Pavilion with my skater bud Ron (RIP).

It was a Saturday and this band comes out of all young guys bouncing around, we thought it was a Punk Rock Band opening act, it was the intro!

Then Frank came out and the crowd went nuts, we were very close in the riser next to the stage on the left the side where he was posted up.

We heard a lot of music we never heard before because Sheik Yerbouti came out over a year latter but when he played the guitar it blew us away.

We new he was good and I had seen some great guitar players but I told Ron he was the best I ever heard or saw hands down and Ron agreed.

Here is the set list I found:

Intro
(excerpts from "Knick Knack People" (through PA system) and "The Purple Lagoon" theme)
Peaches en Regalia
The Torture Never Stops
Tryin' to Grow a Chin
City of Tiny Lites
A Pound for a Brown on the Bus (The Mothers of Invention song)
Bobby Brown
Conehead
Flakes
Big Leg Emma (The Mothers of Invention song)
Envelopes
Disco Boy
I Promise Not to Come in Your Mouth
Wild Love
Titties 'n Beer
The Black Page
Jones Crusher
Broken Hearts Are for Assholes
Punky's Whips
Dinah-Moe Humm
Camarillo Brillo
Muffin Man (Frank Zappa & Captain Beefheart cover)
San Ber'dino
Black Napkins

BBP - 14-12-2024 at 21:28

Sounds like a very memorable evening, wissh O'd seen the man live. I am now on YCDTOSA vol 2 and p;ayed vol 1 earlier today. Brought up memories of KU III.

Plook - 14-12-2024 at 23:36

Eddie RUKidding - 15-12-2024 at 01:13

Just finished reading We All Shine On - Eliot Mintz, now that is a depressing read :duh:
So I'm spinning my Vinyl of Orchestral Favorites to cheer me up

polydigm - 17-12-2024 at 12:29

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. Our lives have been pretty crazy since August 20th. Our last holiday in UK/Europe was July 5th to August 10th this year. Didn't mention it before Bonny because we weren't able to come via Eindhoven this time. We had a great time at Zappanale again (except for the horrendous drive from Hook Of Holland to Hamburg - normally due to arrive around 4pm but dragged out until after 6pm).

Just before we went away we found a lovely place on Zoopla, in Husbands Bosworth, which we viewed three times while in England. As we were getting ready to come back to OZ, we booked a top level building inspection for August 20th, ten days after we got back. We got a positive recommendation, made an offer which was accepted and from then until about a week ago things have been seriously intense.

Our house settled on 19th November, and that went very well, according to plan, staying at a family member's place after the 19th. We had a flight booked to move to England, departing November 22nd and arriving November 23rd. Around this time we discovered there was a delay in the settlement of the house we're buying. Our long term plan involved buying a motorhome in February next year ... screech!!! ... somehow managed to arrange buying one before we got there and have been living in it since - more than three weeks now on the road. Settlement is at the end of January, if there are no further delays.

Final complication? Because we found the perfect house unexpectedly (as perfect as they get in reality), after looking for about five years, we've ended up coming here before our youngest son's wedding in January - so we're back in OZ for Xmas and New Year. We've organised secure storage for the van while we're away, so we're finally pretty relaxed about it all. I'm looking forward to seeing OZ family again, but also jonesing to be settled in our new place. Trying not to wish my life away.

Aside from some seriously stressful legal stuff that I won't go into, Julie and I have been having a pretty good time driving around England visiting relatives and friends.

BBP - 17-12-2024 at 17:37

That sounds exciting and stressful!

I had enough stress on my plate, particularly when movind Dad to the top floor of the house. Luckily, the last major overhaul will be while Iḿ on vacation.

Currenty Iḿ at BF's. He is spoiling me rotten and is taking me to the Seal Center of Pieterburen again. We'll see if I can out-noise the grey seal pups, which are (much) noisier than the harbour seals. But theyŕe fluffy as newborns. <3

Plook - 17-12-2024 at 21:41

Poly sounds awesome and exciting, I am glad to here you are doing what you planned and it is going well, keep us posted!

polydigm - 18-12-2024 at 17:28

Cheers guys.

Sounds like you might be having a great time Bonny - enjoy!!

Plook - 20-12-2024 at 16:47

Yesterday for Zappadan I got to live out the Sheik Yerbouti song Flakes, I had been having trouble with the toilet stopping up in the master bedroom and having to do some plunging every morning after doing my morning business...:freak:

So I called my guy, who said it was most likely a calcium build up since the commode was very old...:(

We decided to change out the toilet and when he pulled it there where an incredible amount of roots in the sewage pipe...:wow:

We were able to get a Rotor Company out in a few hours and he could not get the plug and wanted to get into the sewer pipe by digging a hole outside the house (that is just asking for a huge billable $$$)...

My guy said no way lets remove the other toilet and come in from there, which they did and it worked, both porcelain thrones are back in and the shit is flowing down hill again...:bouncing:

The issue is the roots must have got in through the clay pipe that goes to the city sewer system which means it is breached and that is big doings, a future toilet goes crazy event in waiting...:forumsmiley224:

I guess I better find the Flakes Extended Version to find out what I am instore for…:music4:

Eddie RUKidding - 20-12-2024 at 21:30

Get Dweezil to do the Return of the Son of Flakes and include your story ;)

Happy pooping

PS I'm currently spinning this sweet 1986 OZ repressing

Eddie RUKidding - 24-12-2024 at 22:49

PS our dog doesn't like Lobster I told MRs Eddie the dog is a Jewish Princess  )

Anyway here is a Jellyfish for Plook

Jellyfish copulating :D

BBP - 24-12-2024 at 23:42

Awwww poor Leon!

Did I mention I'm back from vacation? BF spoiled me rotten by renting an apartment in Pieterburen for 2 nights, so I could visit the seal centre again. Twice. And they were cute and I got lots of pictures.

As opposed to three months ago, there are now also grey seals, these are born in winter with a pretty fluffy white coat looking all adorable. A number were blown away from their mothers during a storm about two, three weeks ago, and are now being reared with the intention to release them back into the wild.

Seals may look adorable but they can be pretty fierce, even as as juveniles. As this lady exprienced in a hilarious sequence in the livestream.

Eddie Kathy said we could have put your Jellyfish picture on our wedding invitations and said we are tying the knot...

Eddie RUKidding - 25-12-2024 at 20:07

Klassik Plook, tell Kathy she is welcome glad you liked it and have a good Xmas.

Xmas was yesterday here and went next door to the Neighbours (Lobster Merchants) and it was fairly happening music blasting drinks flowing and then Mrs Eddie got them to play some Celine :(
and then they chose to play some Frank Zappa randomly selected (Mrs Eddie told them I like it and I said I hated Celine ;) ), first was ok "Uncle Remus" but then they picked below - I told them it was rude but that just encouraged them
https://youtu.be/SXi_zoW-Wr4
Then Mrs Next Door got very drunk and had to be put to bed and her daughter who was sitting alone inside and not talking to anyone - got a talking to from Mrs Eddie and left in a huff
So me and Mrs Eddie went home after that :D

I can drink plenty of fluids unfortunately, am waay down on what I usually drink.

Had my end of year review with my new Line Manager Thursday and it went well, still getting push back for the San Francisco Market taking a lot of effort to complete engineering packages...One of the other 2 guys working in my Market took a stress leave for 60 days, he is 30 something family man but I sensed he was struggling, us old guys were brought up to keep ploughing ahead...Guess who gets to split his work load...

Eddie RUKidding - 11-1-2025 at 22:35

Hi Plook, can related to that - my former line manager (in my current role of 5 years, Regional Manager, previously I used to run a division of Water Tyco/ Pentair is Oz)- he quit being Sales Manager and dropped back to Commercial Manager/ Sales Engineer, after he divorced and now has 4 boys under 15 to bring up- he is about 50 and has been with the company of 15 years.
Needless to say, he has taken January off on long service leave and left me, part time 3 days a week, to do sales and commercials for the next month- I hope he comes back ;)

How are the fires going..........

Plook - 12-1-2025 at 00:00
