Temporarily without your admin BBP
I regret to inform you all about the small accident BBP had this morning during her round.
She felled on the ground due to the weather conditions an broke her foot joint on several places with a lot of pieces bone total loose.
At this very moment she is being operated in a small hospital near Eindhoven (Geldrop). This is a very famous hospital cause the PH.d of Soccer club
PSV eindhoven works there. His son is also known for his swimming prestations.
Let's hope BBP is back on track shortly, meanwhile please keep posting to keep the goose on his feet.

Update.
She has a lot of fear for injection needles, and doctors. Now she had a overdosis. When you add to that that it was early in the morning and she had
to shout for over 15 minutes for help. She was really very very emotional today,

Hey Bonny, sorry to hear about your accident. Hang in there. My troubles seem minor in comparison, imagine a teacher with laryngitis. I'm not in need
of a hospital though. I hope you get better soon and that the remainder of your stay in hospital isn't too treacherous.

Here again an update, this time I use the right account. BBP is still not feeling very well. She is trying to get on her foot (not feet) but she is
not a hero in walking around with crutches. Thats why she has to stay in hospital untill at least beginning next week.

This is a shorter version of what happened. I'm also writing a King Kong version, to be posted once finished.
I broke my ankle on my newspaper round. There was a quiet bit of street, still had much snow, and sewer problems. Plus it had rained that night, and
it was freezing quite a bit, so there was this small ice rink there. My rear bicycle tire slipped to the right. I tried to regain my balance by
putting my left foot down, which was a bad idea. I felt it break.
It was 6:45, ice cold, with icy & snowy road. I screamed for help for 15 minutes before somebody came.
Finally, at 7, everybody's alarm went off. And suddenly there were six people eager to help me. I'm not a lightweight and I could not use my ankle at
all, so I had to sit on the ground (and later, a neighbor's towel) for another 15 minutes waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
It was a very nasty break, and my footbones were in a very off location, so they had to straighten my foot first (well, they did give painkillers, but
the pain comes straight from hell nonetheless), then plaster it. Fortunately I never have breakfast before my route, so they could operate early in
the afternoon.
I broke the ends of my tibia and fibula, as demonstrated in this picture:

The X-ray was made before they straightened my foot. You can see how much to the back it is in comparison with the other one.
Now I have a plate, a long hook, a long screw, 4 small screws and a bolt in my legs. It'll be a riot at airport customs.

I had a full-blown panic attack just prior to the surgery, and an even worse one right after it. Fortunately there worked a very sweet man there who
reassured me a lot.
Later in the evening, I took a bad turn or something. In front of my father and sister, and the visitors of the other patients in the room, I had my
own Excorcist scene. Or perhaps the Scary Movie 2 version is more accurate. (I didn't notice at the time, but my neighbor told me that one of the lady
visitors of the woman across the room really couldn't watch it.
The nurses were very sweet and managed to clean me without me getting out of bed. After that I got medication against the sickness. I could eat a
little and felt much better an hour later.
Anyway, I got home yesterday. The reason it took so long is that the hospital had to organize a nurse to come to my house and give me my
anti-trombosis injection, and they couldn't do that in the weekend. Otherwise I could have gone home on Friday. But now I had to stay until Monday
evening.
Fortunately my timing was right for the digital entertainment. They'd ust installed a TV system that also enabled you to listen to the radio, use the
Internet, use phone at no extra cost, and watch movies and series in their database. I finally watched Casablanca (at 5AM), and I saw Little Princess
with Shirley Temple.. And because it was still in testing phase, it was free!
Typing with the Internet programme was a hard task though, it had to be done with an on-screen keyboard and pressing arrows until you selected the
right letter. Hence the brevity (and lack of capitals and interpunction) of the first message.

And the saga continues...
Today I was supposed to get special plaster, so I could put a little bit of pressure on my ankle. It would also mean the stitches in my left wound
(the one on the right side has special ones that dissolve in the body) were to be removed, and that the home help would stop coming over. And that I
could walk around a little more, perhaps climb the stairs.
It was not to be.
My stitches were removed, sure enough, but there has been a little complication:
Before my surgery, I was put in plaster to keep my ankle straight. It was pretty messed up. That plaster was cut open during the procedure, and later
re-used to put my foot in, then wrapped with bandage. Every day my wound was cleaned, so the bandages and all were removed, chlorine was put over the
wound, then wadded patches stuck to my skin, then re-wrapped like a cheap Christo.
But apparently I should have been given a new cast. The pre-surgery one set my foot in a rather tip-toe position. After two weeks of having it stuck
in that (my fracture didn't allow me to pull up my foot myself), the doctor couldn't get it straight anymore. My calve muscles have become too
short.
And believe me, he tried to get it straight. It hurt like hell.
Now I can't walk on my plaster yet, that'll be for next week. I hope. 
My cast is now white. I'll ask Dad if he can write "Here lie the broken bones of B.B. Ploeg" on it.

Sometimes i miss the peaceful quietness around here when you were at the hospital. On the other hand the house will be burned down by now leaving
often the gas on or frying the cookerypan in the oven.

Went to the hospital again. Good news: the bone has healed well!
Bad news: the ends are still sticking out, and the one on the front looks like it may be annoying and needs removal. The metal can't be removed until
August at least. It is completely in my hands, though.
