Zappadan 2025
Well, as I was at work and remembered it was that time of year when I can indulge on my Franks and let all other fanhoods simmer, I got to play some
of his albums while handling my sheer infinite amount of complaint e-mails. Frank's a bath of sanity sometimes, particularly when you get inane
complaints like when we got the Cola Zero addict who was complaining there wasn't any at the resort in Tunisia she was going to.
At any rate, I played Freak Out! and Absolutely Free as stream via Youtube, played WOIIFTM as well but the album I had sounded so different in a
non-enjoyable way that I was happy to return to my CDs this evening. I combined WOIIFTM with my current addiction Blue Prince, the smash indie gaming
hit adventure/puzzle game. Then onto Ruben (Greasy Love Songs version) and now Lumpy Gravy.

WOIIFTM may have been the overdubbed bass and drum version.
Lumpy Gravy- will have to give my old vinyl copy a spin too.

Yesterday during work listening didn't work out as well (there I can only resort to Youtube), but yesterday I got to do Zoot and Bongo along with
Studio Tan and Orchestral Favourites and the first CD of Joe's Garage. Just did Sleep Dirt, now SHeik, will then continue with Joe's and
then move on to the 80s.

After that I played Man from Utopia, Thing-Fish, LSO, Perfect Stranger and Them or Us, and yesterday also the first 2 CDs of SUNPYG.
I'm now having to choose what I will play before going to the alpacas - I had a hard time choosing and wnt with DHBIM and Jazz From Hell, only
now realising I have the third CD of Shut Up waiting for me - and that's the one with the glorious magnificent Duck duck Goose

Just another facebook finding:
46 years ago tonight
Cutting a cake shaped like a snake for the premiere of "Baby Snakes" at Victoria Theater in Times Square, NYC on December 21st in 1979, his
39th Birthday (Photo from The New York Times, hence its poor quality)
For Zappaphiles: A One-Man Enterprise
"BABY SNAKES" is a shapeless, inexcusably long concert film made of, by and about Frank Zappa, whose particular blend of avant-garde
pretension and sophomoric glee doesn't do much to make the time fly. Mr. Zappa, with the members of his band, performs lengthy musical selections
and complains obscurely about his former record company. He and the band also play with a toy police car, a gas mask, and an inflatable female doll,
which they maul with either unabashed misogyny or a rather too subtle satirical imitation of same. "Baby Snakes," which opens today at the
Victoria Theater, also contains sequences of stop-motion clay animation, deftly executed by Bruce Bickford but with an exhausting emphasis upon
maggoty shapes and putrefaction. Mr. Zappa, in the production notes, explains the "story" of one of the animated sequences this way:
"In one scene (and you won't believe this if you haven't seen it yet) two clay people are watching a movie. One guy really likes it. He
likes it so much his head turns into a hamburger. He turns to the guy sitting next to him and uses his hamburger-head to bite the face off the other
guy, allowing the upper bun to close on the remnants of the victim's features. When it opens again, a tiny version of the victim appears in the
middle of the murderous burger patty. Behind the little victim a building grows up (a disco) and dozens of tiny cars (about the size of eraser crumbs)
drive through a portal in it." Mr. Zappa's film includes interviews with his fans, who explain why they think he is so wonderful. "Baby
Snakes" is for them and them alone.
