His most famous novel is Karakter (Character). Mike Van Diem made a movie of it in 1997, which won an Oscar for best foreign-language film. That's my favourite film btw, seen it so many times...

Any other must-reads? I travel by train a lot (to and from college, over a 51 min. distance), so I get a lot of time to read...

Well, for usual suspense stuff, anything by Dan Brown is pretty good easy reading, The Dan Vinci Code, Angels And demons and Deception Point in particular......Also anything by Harlan Coben is good too.......

Reading in trains is not too bad... especially when it's not rush hour... If you really want to get nauseous you could try reading in a bus.

Up to the recent discovery of tabloids, Dutch newspapers could only be read on large tables... not much for the train.

...I'd like to write an article about the overextensive use of ellipsises in forums...

Back to LOTR: I've finally finished Two Towers, which did not exactly cure my arachnophobia. Poor Frodo! :crying:

Quite well actually! Quite charmingly done, almost as youd imagine them to be I guess....The movies are very loyal to the books all in all...
