I play drums. I like Vinnie and Weckl and all those guys. I learnt to play vibes for West Side Story! What a fucking ordeal that was!
I once played bass for Louie Louie for a gig at a party with a big band (I never picked one up before.) I started improvising in the B section!!! The
real bass player turned my amp down!! I didn't know what the fuck I was doing!!

I'm a guitarist, but I took up marimba 'cos the Zappa tribute band I was
in could never find a marimba player who would rehearse for free...
I love playing the Zappa stuff on marimba, 'cos I love Ruth
I deliberately don't play anything else but Zappa on marimba...
That's enough to keep me occupied for several lifetimes

Marimba is a cool instrument and the basics aren't that hard to learn. My dad's girlfriend has one and can play it pretty well (she's no Ruth
Underwood, though..  ) , I think the trickiest part is learning to play with four
mallets instead of two.
Too bad those large concert marimbas are pretty expensive.

yeah man....I can see how I would dig playing one, as you only have to concentrate on your hands, and not both feet also....That said, it wouldnt make
it that much easier....
