One of my father's colleagues dropped by to say hi and give him boxes of promotional material. Included are 4 CDs - one with Dutch classical music
from Sweelinck to Andriessen (so covering from 16th to 20th century), one contains string quartets from Niels W. Gade (never heard of him, 1817-1890)
and a classic sampler that has music from Orlando di Lasso to Carl Orff, so that's another sampler with a wide span.
And the fourth one has a contemporary (read - 1996) selection of Japanese pop. Unfortunately there was no CD in the jewelcase, but I looked up the
tracks separately. The titles appear to be off.
Kix-s - "Love In My Life" or a similar title since this was translated.
Ken Muramatsu - Summer Lament The track title is named "Evening calm in the eyes" but I couldn't find that, so here's something by the same
author
Gontiti - Dirac in Zoo Also Black Ant's Life and History of Island by the same artist. Advertised in the booklet as: "The Most Comfortable Music

Coba is an accordeon player. Had a bit of a hard time finding his work. Couldn't find the Appetito that is on the disk but I did find his rendition of
Libertango which made me reach for any other Libertango.
Mikako Honya - Lunacia
HAL FROM APOLLO '69 - hal from heaven. Hal from heaven is the title.
Four songs by Harumi Tsyyuzaki are on this album. Of these I could only find Time
Shakura soundtrack by Tooru Takemitsu. I hope that's the one at least.
Bridge to the Moon Hiroshi Oguchi and Alan Merrill
I couldn't find their song "Cry Over You" but here's The Girl Can't Help It by Duke & The Summits.
Then there are some songs by Regine. One is "My sweet home" and the other is "Just one more time" - and apparently there is a Philipino singer called
Regine Velasquez who has songs by the same title.
Three songs by Hikaru Nishida: Go beep!, Go! Paradise and Omoide-ni tokenagara
I couldn't find "Funkaling" by Unlimited Edition. Here's the write-up in the CD booklet: "This unique pop jazz unit with 8 members was formed when
intelligent bass player Tetsutaro Tamaki and Thomas Sawada met in 1992. Playing gigs at bases, clubs and halls in Okinawa and after few member changes
they have now become the line up as it is now, 5 boys and 3 girls. The band was scouted during the street live performance in Shinjuku by Mercury
Entertainment, and their major debut album "PLEASURE", intelligent yet catchy jazz pop music is about to strike the Japanese market.

I didn't have much luck with "Sweet girl parade" but here's some by the same artist, Kumiko Yamashita

Went to the second-hand-shop and came back with:
Okadan Acoustic Selection. Bought purely since it is Japanese. Now listening to "undaa ze bowa.." (under the boardwalk). Relaxing music though.

Haven't played it yet but when I opened it at the shop it named DAAU as contributing artists. Mind you it's DAAU after Buni Lenski's parting, and I'm
not too fond of their work without violin. We'll see...

Had a good second-hand store raid (5 CDs for 3 euros) and found, besides a computer game, Alice In Chains (selftitled album) and three albums by
Sugizo, a Japanese electrical violinist . The albums are called Tree Of Life, Flower Of Life and Vesica Pisces.

The CDs I have obtained are not bad at all but aside from guitars and violin it's electronic, and I just prefer real instruments.

Indeed, me too. I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I had an opportunity to work with ZERO on their last album - Blather. I'm playing the
baritone sax part on The World's Greatest Sinner, which you can barely hear. Kevin decided to bury it in the mix. Everyone I've played it to can
barely hear it at all, but he just denies it. ZERO does have some good FZ covers, but the problem I have with it is that Kevin is a big prog rock fan
and he just slathers his tracks with too much synth and uses big chunks out of old Yes and other classic prog rock bands. He has access to a fairly
large group of good, diverse musicians - if I had that access I wouldn't be plastering my recordings with synths.

Bought two Apocalyptica albums and something by Malice Mizer, which turns out to be their film Bara no Konrei ~Mayonaka ni Kawashita Yakusoku. Also
has a CD.

No I thought it was rather noisy. My sister liked them and bought tickets to see them live, but the person who was supposed to come with her couldn't
make it and she didn't manage to sell her extra ticket (they were expensive) so I decided to go with her. I remember the music was so loud it hurt my
ears even in the foyer. Only concert I ever saw when I wore ear plugs.

Nice one, if you ever think of expanding - well it's like Zappa, you'll end up loving them all and I'm not sure if I can tell beforehand which one is
the most dear, but in general the second (Frizzle Fry, from their old record label and a bit unpolished but many good songs), third (Sailin' the Seas
of Cheese) and fourth (Pork Soda) and you'll have quite a few classics.
'Course, then there is Tales from the Punchbowl, with amazing songs like Professor Nutbutter's House of Treats, Southbound Pachyderm and Over the
Electric Grapevine, and there's the Brown Album (named after the colour brown) with the warm drum sound and classics like Kalamazoo and Shake Hands
With Beef, and there's Antipop that has its moments (I'll let Aqua do the advertising) , and there's the EP Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People
with five great songs, and there's there's the cover EP Miscellaneous Debris, and there's the cover album Rhinoplasty with the best The THing That
Should Not Be AND the best Scissor Man, and there's of course the live album that started it all, Suck On This...

In a bout of 90s nostalgia I bought a Celtic music sampler, with Michael Flatley, Corrs, Clannad, ERA, Eimear Quinn and a bunch of others.
What surprises me is how dated the synths sound. Ya know, was looking for some Irish violins and you come back with sappy love drones. Still, it was
1996 when I first heard the Voice and that song still haunts me.

n another bout of 90s nostalgia I bought a sampler - back in the 90s samplers were quite a hit, although occasionally of doubtful legality. Found the
Chartbusters compilation of August 1993 - has some familiar songs, Living on my own by Freddie Mercury and What's up by 4 non blondes and the
hilariously horrible then just annoyingly horrible 3 Little Pigs, but I bought it more because there was a song called Cool Corona on it. I've noticed
"Corona" was a sort of fashion word in the day meaning something along the lines of vibes, aura - it's not the first 90s song I've found that sports
Corona in the title.
If you want to look it up and give yourself a headache, it's by Nice Device.
