Technically, it has to be Vinnie...the guy is INHUMAN....TB a close second though, saw him earlier this year playing with FANTOMAS and he was
incredible....and, like the Zappas music, thats not easy shit to play either..

Zoot horn rollo (from magic band) called him "the ringo star from the mothers".
He's ok, just nothing special compared to other amazing drummers frank had.

Jimmy Carl Black is even more bitter than a pint of pure Guinness. And that's saying something.
My favourite drummer has to be Terry Bozzio, if only for the amazing charisma and intensity the chap had. Listen to Zappa In New York
for chrissakes!
Close runner up is Chad Wackerman. His playing on The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life speaks for itself.

I really like Ralph Humphrey's playing, too bad he isn't on many official FZ albums.

I thought this topic was favorite Zappa drummer only? Aw, fuck it...
I like the usual suspects: Billy Cobham, Jack DeJohnette, Elvin Jones, Max Roach, Tony Williams, Art Blakey, Idris Muhammad, Dannie Richmond, Mitch
Mitchell, Bill Bruford, Stewart Copeland, every FZ drummer except JCB, etc.
Joey Baron is indeed awesome.

Ok, i just realised what section this is in...
I would have to say that Vinnie is my favourite drummer who has played with FZ, but Bozzio is definately better suited to FZ. Vinnie is (or was) a
little outrageously virtuosic.
And also Chester, who can't be faulted in any way.
I also feel sorry for Aynsley, who was unlucky to be followed by such immensely gifted players.
PS. I don't know if virtuosic is a word.
