Luge:

Gee, who would have thought sliding backwards down a narrow half pipe on a piece of fibreglass at 140kph could be so dangerous? :umm:

And my heartfelt thanks to the Canadian guy who won gold for Australia in moguls!

Did you see Carl fall in the team chase? Along with Sven Whatshisname?

Well, here's me and Sven: (I'm on the left)

I didn't see the fall but i heard about it and was surprised last night when they weren't in the running for the medals.

Where were these photos taken? And why is there a giant green umbrella behind ya?

Have you seen that Skeleton thing? It's even more dangerous than the front ways one. Crazy. :duh:

Yeah that always scares the hell out of me... But I'm more a fan of figure skating to be honest... especially Yevgeni Plushenko...

Them pics is an action of the Dutch railways. If you're at the station in Utrecht, you can find a lot of cosiness going on, a nice little terrace with umbrellas, a bad band, TV screens showing sports and the news, a snowboarding PC game which is very difficult, a table with magazines, a bar...
And someone taking pictures of you... He'll put your favourite skater behind you and put it on the Net so everyone can see!

Of course they didn't have Jochem Uytdehaeghe... so the first time they asked me, the photographer chose Carl Verheijen for me (didn't know who that was). The second time, I asked for someone who didn't fall... Apparently the choice is between Sven and Carl... so I took Sven this time.

Hah, you're very lucky! My two train stations are the worst places in the entire world. I would rather be at the gaza strip! I would rather be in France!

I saw another Dutch skater this just before on tv. His last name started with a G. Sort of like an extended version of "Grotius" or something... I don't think he got through though.

Stefan Groothuis, probably, 1000 metres.

Yeah Utrecht is a nice station, loads of stores, so there's lots to do if your train is running late... Biggest station in Holland allegedly...

Yeah, Stefan Groothuis. That's the guy.

I don't think i would mind waiting for trains that much if i lived in the city. But i live in the country (the opposite to city), and there's nothing to do except wait! They are frequently late or cancelled, and because it's a country line, it's like 25 minutes plus for the next train! :crying: :crying:

Ohh, did you see the american chick in snowboarding who, at the last 20 metres of the gold medal race, attempted a grab (because she was so far in front) and stacked it! And then the person who was like 50 metres behind won!!!:roll::lol:

Nope, didn't see that. Didn't watch too much TV on sports... it all seems to be skating out here.
Who won the snowboarding then?

Ha! That's great! How was it made?

It's amazing how there are all these people in the crowd cheering, and then when the view shifts to you there are no people in the stands! :P

I think your country needs you in the bobsleigh Bonny!

It was made in front of a white screen, whilst I was wobbling on a device consisting of 2 planks with a rope between them, that can only slide sideways.

The only attempt I ever made at skating was when I was 8, with skates that were way too big. I didn't even stand on them without aid once, dreadful.

Speaking of skating, did you see women's figure skating? I'm kinda happy the Japanese girl won. Japan's first medal.

I did, and what is the difference between a sled and a sleigh? Maybe a sleigh has room for a giant red sack.

Sledge (also esp US sled) n a vehicle with long narrow stripes of wood, metal etc instead of wheels, for travelling over ice and snow. Larger types of sledge are pulled by horses or dogs and smaller ones are used for sport or pleasure. Compare SLEIGH, TOBBOGAN

sleigh n a sledge, esp one pulled by a horse

tobbogan n a vehicle for travelling on snow, esp down a slope. It consists of a flat seat attached to two narrow metal or wooden parts that slide easily on snow. Compare SLEDGE.
