out of home
I will be out of home for a few days due to some redecorating job at BBP's Grandma.
I hope that I can rely on tons and tons of postings during my absence.

Well that was not very much, actually.
Fortenately You and me were in Belgium yesterday and I bought 2 tube radio's one Philips, now I have the same radio as we had in the early sixties. It
has a minor problem, so I need to do some reparation. The other one was a working Telefunken Radio in such a peace of furniture combined with a record
player and a fifties speakerbox that almost looks like a radio, but isn't. At 2 we had everything complete and we went for the beautiful city of Gent
to visit the exposition of life and work of Stanley Kubrick. It was nice to see the milkbar out of Clockwork an de knifes, dresses, axes and
typewriter of "the Shining". The expo lasts upto JAnuary so if you have the possibility to go. Be advised.

yep. Was quite a miniature Tour de Flanders, all the way past Genk and Leuven to Mechelen, then Brussels, Brugge to Lichtervoorde, and back the same
way with the stop in Gent.

Sounds like a great day out. I must say DED your last post featured some exquisite English! It's great that you have so many old radios and things but
it's a shame that they would be forced to play shithouse music nowdays! What a waste!

Yes thanks. She was very pleased with it. Actually it is quite a upgrade. When we moved in some 34 years ago the original decoration was something we
call "concrete enamel" it is normal paint used in the still wet cement. The standard colour is Green. We used it as is for quit a time and after 2 or
3 years I repainted it but with a light green paint that was overwhelming on such large walls. After that my mother did the decoration herself with
water resistant wall paper. But after 10 years it was fallen off and large black spots on it. Now I used the color "steam" a sort of mixture between
light blue and grey. I bought 5 250ml cans of paint and used only 2. I bought them in a sort of outlet for 1.5 Euros per can. So it was very cheap as
well. Then she told me that she wants to use new glass curtains between the hall and the living room. Unfortenately the folded measuring stick was
disappeared between the pillows of the cough and you could not put you hand in. But at the back sid i could and with my long arms i recovered the
stick and feeling around inside I found coins for a value of over 8 Euros. Enough to pay the redecoration. That was funny.

They just look like regular curtains! I don't really know what the official
name is.

Do you use curtains in Australia, They don't have neighbours in the first thirty miles was my opinion?
The usage is completely diffent from curtains.
We use curtains in the evening when it is dark outside and the lights are on. Without curtains everyone can see the mess Bonny makes
Glass curtains are hanging around trough the day. It gaves a diffuse lighting and stil it is not possible to look in from the outside while it is
possible to look outside from the inside. at last it is a warmer feeling than such a open hole a window can be.
BTW and completely different.
I understand that there is a company in Australia by the name of ZONAL that still makes 1/4" reel to reel audiotape. When I google on Zonal I end up
only in the UK where you can buy Zonal tape but they don't produce.

Everybody has curtains. We have vertical blinds instead. One of our cats, Suzy Creamcheese (who has one arm) has trouble manouvreing around the window
ledges and often falls through the string that holds the blinds together.
Actually, the vast majority of our population live in the cities or in large towns. It's a really big problem because we are currently running out of
water. If everyone was nicely spread around we could make much better use of water resources and wouldn't have a problem.
But we live in the "country" and there are only 3 houses down our road, all with about 200 metres in between them. We shut the blinds only to keep out
the sun when it's hot outside or at night to stop all the gigantic moths from banging into the windows.
