The Last Waltz
I love The Band and I love this film. Along with Mr Kubrick, Scorcese had the most amazing musical sensibilities of any director.
There are so many great things about the music and the interviews. I love the bit when Neil Young first opens his mouth after coming in looking like
an absolute bum and as high as a kite. I love it when about half way through his song he moves over to Rick Danko's mic and sings with him and Robbie,
who has a completely inaudible singing voice. I love Van Morrison's Caravan, which must have lifted the roof of the place. I love the introduction to
Dylan, when the camera moves down from a cut about his head to show this raggedy godlike man in an absurd hat.
There are loads more. I love the bit when Robbie talks about why he's not touring anymore and says sadly that the road "is a goddamn impossible way
of life".
What do you guys think?

yeah, it's a great movie.
I have the record set.
By now, isn't it an older generation's thing, almost? Sure everyone will like what they like, but all of those people are in their sixties at least.
I love Joni Mitchell in "Helpless" though. A number of people did seem to pull out the stops for that one, like Van. Oh ! and the record The Band,
is my favorite drinkin record, I think. But I don't drink anymore and I don't know if I have that record anymore . . . where would it go?

It disappeared when you stopped drinking! Is there stuff on the records that isn't in the film? I know there was a lot of stuff that didn't get put
on, because of time or legal constraints...I know Bob Dylan did at least another song before Forever Young, for example. And the concert went for
about 6 hours didn't it? And there were some jams as well. It seems a little strange in the movie when Ronnie Wood and Ringo come out just for I Shall
Be Released.
What do you think of Neil Diamond, in general?

I don't think so. there are dvd's and multi-cd boxsets. I certainly don't know all the details.

From memory Hazel and I Don't Believe You are not in the film. Neither are the jams.
Actually one of the jams is on a special edition dvd as a bonus. Neil Young gets out his black Les Paul and plays some typically menacing riffs.

I've always loved Neil's voice. And everybody loves Sweet Caroline BOW BOW BOW...but he's a tool and the majority of his songs are self indulgent
pieces of crap.
