I enjoy playing, or attempting to play, blues, classic rock, some jazz, and metal, like Rammstein, Dream Theater, Opeth.

I play piano, keyboard, guitar, bass, melodica, recorder, ukelele and a bunch of other things. What I play on it, well... primarily classical but some
rock, pop, Primus and Zappa, depending on the instrument.

Guitar is my main instrument and I'm currently playing it fairly intensely with the aim of achieving a fairly high standard. I mostly play my own
compositions but I cover a few Zappa pieces - Uncle Meat, Black Page, Peaches, Little House, Magic Fingers, Road Ladies etc and a little Pink Floyd.
My main goal is composition and along the way I took up playing piano to help out my daughter, who eventually gave it away, but I kept on playing - it
comes in very handy sometimes as a compositional tool.

Yup... I always preferred piano over any other instrument for composing... although I made some little niceties on bass.

These are my four guitars: Maton, L'Arrivée, Squire Strat, Gibson Les Paul BFG. Since I bought the Les Paul I've stopped playing the Strat and my son
is now using it. The Les Paul is a great guitar to play and I'm getting some nice sounds out of it. The L'Arrivée acoustic is a beautiful guitar and
it has a full bodied pure sound. The Maton acoustic has much more of a blues and rock type sound and has the cutaway so that I can get some of the
high notes more easily that I have in some of the arrangements I play. From the time I got the Maton over a year ago I've played it almost exclusively
because the sound really grabbed me and I had lighter strings on it - 11 top E - and I started to find it hard to go back to the L'Arrivée because the
strings were too heavy -12 top E. A couple of weeks back I was recording a piece that was really asking for the L'Arrivée sound and I realised that
all I had to do was adjust the neck so the lighter strings wouldn't buzz and now I use them both regularly. I mostly play the acoustic guitars and I
play the Les Paul mainly when I'm trying to get some electric parts recorded.

No, I gave it to a then-friend (later boyfriend now ex-boyfriend). He'd become the victim of police brutality as he was squatting a fort. It's legal
to squat in The Netherlands if a building has been empty for more than a year, and said fort (Fort Pannerden) had been empty since the end of WW2, and
squatted since the 80s. The community didn't like having the squatters (who restored the Fort to a place they could live in, and who opened it to all
visitors), and one day in 2006 they had the Dutch military police attack them with tanks to get them out. It took 2 days before they were evicted.
During the eviction, many violent things happened. Police had broken in, destroyed aquariums and killed several animals (chickens, ducks, fish, even
the resident pigs), read personal mail and broke personal belongings. One of them was my friend's guitar. I was very upset to hear that and decided to
give him my C&W Stagg. I barely played it anyway, it hurt too much. And he was happy with it.

Yup... me too... couldn't believe al the stories I heard from him and his friends. The story has a more pleasant ending btw: after the place was
evicted, the community installed security guards at the Fort. Two days later, the squatters came back and took half an hour to take over the place (of
which they made much fun, "ha ha it took them two days to get us out and it took us thirty minutes to get back in".
The community started negotiating with the squatters, and ruled that they could work there as guards, but not live there. My friend became a guard,
and so I spent a lot of nights at the Fort. Which was freezing. And creepy. And nobody understood the key jokes I was making. But a lot of fun.
