thanx scallop, you gave me an idea what to listen to next

The Vanilla Tapes...
They put London Calling on one cd and then a couple years ago released a 2nd disc with the deluxe edition with the vanilla tapes, an old demo tape from 1979 that was lost until 2003 or 04, so they packaged that with a short Don Letts video recording that album
I Love it!!!

here's one

That sounds awesome! London Calling is one of my favourite albums ever, especially double albums. They were total virtuosos, as much as they tried to hide it. That's a nice cover too.

Triple J's "Hottest 100 of All Time" countdown on the radio. It's been going all week. Over 500,000 people voted. It's up to #20. If you guys are interested, check out the website:

http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100_alltime/countdown/cd_list....

They do it every ten years. Very exciting.

yes, it's a finnish band who plays a kind of folk music with rock approach, using only drums, trombone, tuba, cello, organ, piano that somtimes sound like a heavy electric guitar, but with no guitar. They jokingly refer to their style as being "kebab-kosher-jazz-film-traffic-punk-music.

I'm listening to a recording of Spinal Tap from their recent "Unwigged and Unplugged" tour.

No phony-baloney English accents either. Kinda nice...

too many Jeff Buckley songs, in my opinion, of course my Top 100 would be very different, but I like half the songs in this list.

Jeff Buckley is liked a lot here...Triple J really mourned him when he died and would often play memorial shows on the anniversary of his death and stuff. I think it's a pretty good list. Triple J is very much a youth station and the majority of the people who voted would be 25 and under. It's much broader than the other lists they've done, from 1989 and 1998. One reason is the internet and iTunes.
