Yeah, there is an alternate cover with Mingus sitting at the piano. Pretty interesting that he played piano instead of upright bass on this record. Major talented guy.

Yeah, I have both volumes of the Carl Stalling Project.. lots of fun.

NP:

Grachan Moncur III - New Africa, avant-jazz on the French BYG Actuel label. There's some great music on this label, but unfortunately, they are also notorious for ripping of all the musicians who recorded for them.

Anyone notice the link to page 8 didn't appear on the Chit Chat page?

Now playing: Unico van Wassenaer compilation, music from a recently discovered 16th century Dutch composer.

Some Gong is good, but they do get annoying at times IMO....Camembert is a good one, as is You......

I have that album cover on a t-shirt, bought it at a Gong gig a few years ago. That concert was something else.. freaks were coming from miles around... Anyway, I like some of their stuff.

Yeah, you could probably make a good 'best of' from some of those early albums

I mainly like the funny and Zappa-esque stuff..like 'have a cuppa tea'

There's a good Virgin compilation with the best tracks off 'Expresso II, 'Gazeuse' and 'Shamal' It's called 'Wingful of Eyes'..it's got a bit of Holdsworth & Tommy Bolin on it

I don't really like Hawkwind either, although I only have the Space Ritual double lp. It's supposed to be their classic but it grates on my nerves after five minutes. They do have tons of albums out there, probably even more than FZ.
