I know what you mean, "grates" is the perfect word! "Hall Of The Mountain Grill" is a good album though, as it tends to leave all hippy trippy shit at
home, and is quite rock based.....

My brother's a Hawkwind nut, but most of it bogs me up the wall backwards
I don't mind 'Astounding Sounds' and a bit of 'Hawklords', but most of their stuff is jammy rubbish
I wouldn't put Gong in the same class, though
Some of their stuff is a bit more structured...with some half-decent solos and a bit of humour

My Dad's band played with Hawkwind at a bike thing and he said that they were shit compared to what they used to be like.

Yeah, they really should have given up years ago......Think they spilt, then reformed, then split....wouldnt surprise me if they were still going,
albeit in a lesser form ( ie Dave Brock the only original member )....
