Yes lads thankfully the cyclone passed us by, we got a little rain and a heavy wind watch….

Locally our main concern is always the mighty Hutt river (Te Awa Kairangi) when it went in the 70's
downtown cave central was six feet under…..

They still have the tide marks on the school flag pole…..

Unfortunately further north the devastation is mind blowing, the death toll is now four and counting.

Towns cut off with roads out bridges gone trees down and massive slips that took out homes on the way through…..Click for Pics

sadly the horse didn't make it…..

We just had a long 'n' hard reported magnitude 6.1 earthquake!

Depth: 61 km (37.9 miles)

Centered: 80 km (49.7 miles) north-west of Downtown Cave Central…..

Good evening citizens and welcome to a wet 'n' windy Thursday evening awaaaaay on out in the valley…..

More rain throughout the day they're saying 44mm (1.73 inches) had fallen by 3:00pm…..
The little woman checked our rain gauge around 3:30pm, an easy 70mm (2.75 inches)
had fallen in on and around downtown pond central…..

Yes, our seasonal pond has returned, not a duck in sight although the frogs are back, tlw is convinced
their a family and has named them, this will not end well…..

Wanna buy a Mazda?

Enough doom and knee deep, on with the shooooow…..

Unless we have to gooooo a whoa whoa…..

Gray Kat and I followed the link to the flood pictures and we were amazed at the Biblica proportions of the damage, while we had some extreme rain and floods for 3 weeks in California (Nor Cal received 500% of a normal wet winters rain in that period) that damages while severe did not rival what your country got.

It could be due to the fact that the central valley especially in the Sacramento are and surrounding counties we are in a flood plain and therefore have incredibly extensive, large , and modernized levee systems to handle the water. But as we all know these can get overwhelmed as good as they are and they did but held up for the most part.

The Mazda warranty is rock solid…..Unless it's an EV (electric vehicle) then unfortunately
the warranty is void and the Mazda is a car no more…..

Oh man it's pretty shocking, there's a lot of harrowing stories coming out, the death toll is now 8.

We know most of these devastated places really well, and no longer recognize the television footage
or pictures of many.

It's going to take years for some places to fully recover, if ever.

We have around a dozen folks that we can't contact, but as the power's out taking the phone network
with it in their particular localities, we're hoping for the best.

Our man on the ground, Mr. T is equipped with Joe 90's sat' phone and astride his "adventure" motorcycle
is, as we speak weaving his way up country to check on a couple of the couples…..

Good morning earthlings and welcome to a very pleasant Saturday morning awaaaaay on out in the valley…..

Nice and warm, not a cloud in the sky not a lawnmower/weedwacker/chainsaw within earshot,
although the cicadas have made an appearance for the first time this year, which is nice…..

Up with the birds and ready to rock, unlike the wee one who may not be joining us this morning…..
