The Roman Catholic St Joseph (actually Jozef in original spelling) was built in 1940-1941 at the crossing of the Heezerweg and Rector Baptistlaan. The
last service was held in 2005.
In 2008, somebody set fire to the building. I happen to have saved some pictures of that occasion: not of the church itself, but of the police car
that got firmly lodged on the road barrier there.
I can't say I was particularly attached to this church. In fact I thought, and continue to think, it's ugly. But it's odd to have such a major
landmark building disappear.
That, and I find demolition sites sometimes aesthetically pleasing.
That, and it's good to know that somewhere in Eindhoven there's a bigger mess than my bedroom.
