My Brother Was a Mother

This was written by Patrice 'Candy' Zappa and is absolutely great. A few problems, she doesn't talk about Frank enough, more about their childhood, it's too short and there aren't enough unseen photos. Anyway, great book! Did you know Zappa used to dress all in black and steal a Christmas tree for the family?

Aww, great story. I read an interview with Candy about that book, she seems to have got the Zappa-humour.

Quote:
Candy: Hi Frank, how you doin'?
Frank: I have my good days and my bad days, this is one of the bad days.
Candy: Don't worry, heaven won't have you and hell are afraid you'll take over!

Something to that effect was the last conversation she ever had with FZ (May 1992).

Just bought this book today, finished it on the way home.

Did you notice:

-The unusually large letters? Do ya think they do that for the people in their late forties who can't believe they need reading glasses yet?

-The graduation picture of Candy? Her left eye (= right for the viewers) sort of floats unusally. Also she's wearing a Celtic cross, which is nowadays sadly a symbol for neo-nazis.

-The amount of Lennonness? She's on numerous pictures, in the preface, but where is she in Zappa's life according to this book?

-How the last conversation between Frank and Candy was in May 1992, apparently cheerful? What stopped them from contact between that point and December 1993?

-How ending in a lengthy tale on afterlife deminishes your credibility, and your viewer's approval?

...more to come, once I'm bored again...

:) It is very short, yeah. I read it completely in an hour. It's about the lengh of some of the articles I must read for the class I'm taking now.
I got a second-hand copy myself at E7,50, it still looks good. There's some nice pics in it.
