Zappa on other web sites
Just a bit of fun but could also be good to highlight Zappa related items on other web sites. I frequent Hi Fi site WAM which has a few Zappa fans and
posted this to see what reaction it will get.
thread is twelve songs post in a row of similar theme (bit dull - have bother with the one before but given the theme is love song - why not trudge
out an undercover Zappa song à la Cruising with Ruben & the Jets)

Discussing The Mothers of Invention - Freak Out! on Zappateers, any one can to add their comments...
https://www.zappateers.com/forums/topics/6216
"Freak Out!' did have the Mothers lineup at the time present and playing their instruments on every track. Some of the Wrecking Crew folks added
extra horn, strings, and guitar as needed to help flesh out Frank's charts. it's not like, say, 'Pet Sounds' that pretty much only had The Beach
Boys' vocals with everything else provided by the Wrecking Crew."
"The listing for each track on "The Big Note", tell a different story."
"But part of the problem could be that Carol Kaye (who is notorious for telling delusional tall tales and reacting with nasty vitriol when called out
on it) has always said that the wrecking crew did most of the playing on it."
"My ears tell me that its not the Mothers playing (particularly on the first 2 sides), apart from Zappa doing some solo's and playing Kazoo with Ray
and the vocals, it sounds nothing like Absolutely Free, which the mother did play on. MOFO makes this even clearer."
"On Absolutely Free, Elliott Ingber was no longer in the band, I think Billy Mundi rather than JCB did most or all of the drumming, and Zappa added
some more experienced players to the Mothers compared to the Freak Out lineup."

Well, unfortunately less and less people - and companies - have their own website / homepage. Social media has sort of been taking over there.

Frank Zappa - Solitude, Los Angeles rehearsals, February 6, 1980
Frank Song for Gail (Unrealised).
This unreleased song was written in the mid-1970s shortly after FZ found out that his wife Gail had some serious health issues.
It's quoted in Reeny Ra on Joe's Camouflage (2014), recorded August 25, 1975.
It was performed for Gail at the rehearsals of Zappa's Universe (A Celebration of 25 Years of Frank Zappa's Music), four consecutive nights of
concerts at The Ritz, NYC, in November 1991.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnDZB1QQSwk
Lyrics:
You have brought me solitude,
And I believe it is the time for me to show some gratitude.
I think I'll take a minute to reflect upon your attitude,
But most of all I love the way that you have brought me solitude.
You have been a friend to me,
And I believe it is the time for me to show some sympathy.
I watch the way you suffer with the problems only I can see,
But most of all I love the way that you have been a friend to me.
You have been misunderstood,
And I believe it is the time for you to feel the way you should.
I'd love to see you smile a while and know that you was feeling good,
But mostly I regret the way that you have been misunderstood.
You have been a friend to me,
And I believe it is the time for me to show some sympathy.
I watch the way you suffer with the problems only I can see,
But most of all I love the way that you have been a friend to me.
You have brought me solitude, you have brought me solitude . . .
[repeats]
The February 1980 rehearsals band:
Frank Zappa – lead guitar, vocals
Ray White - guitar, vocals
Ike Willis – guitar, vocals
Tommy Mars – keyboards, vocals
Arthur Barrow – bass
Vinnie Colaiuta – drums

I saw that band in LA in 1980, there may have been more people in the group probably played at the forum, sports arena, or the Civic.

Sorry guys, but that stuff is some of my least favourite Zappa material. It just doesn’t stack up to the stuff he was doing with the Roxy band.

Found a dissertation of Greggery Peccary by someone doing a Doctor of Musical Arts............
Scrutinizing Frank Zappa's "The Adventures of Greggery Peccary"
https://keep.lib.asu.edu/system/files/c7/OXford_asu_0010E_22006.pdf
"ABSTRACT Excerpt"
Frank Zappa considered “The Adventures of Greggery Peccary” his
masterpiece. It contains every aspect of his melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic
language. These techniques include: folk-influenced songs, quartal melodies,
asymmetric meters, speech-influenced rhythms, octave-displaced chromaticism,
“conceptual continuity,” and creative studio techniques. He considers these
aspects and weighs them against each other to maintain a sense of balance on
both a micro- and macroscopic scale. "
Looks like Ian and Ruth Underwood and Bruce Fowler helped with the is paper.
"I’m so thankful for my friendship with the person who’s been inspiring me for
nearly 20 years—Ruth Komanoff Underwood. Thank you so much for putting me
in touch with so many people that have helped me out with my paper"
"Thanks to Bruce Fowler, Ian Underwood, and Jerry Kessler—former Zappa
musicians—and Bonnie Gardner for answering my emails and talking with me"
