As you may have heard, my sister and I had all the luck in the world in purchasing 2 tickets for Primus at the original price!
The concert was today, and we're totally psyched!! It was fan-tas-ti-co!!
The start-up act, Hot Head Show, is an entree worthy of Primus. An English power group, their music is reminiscent of Primus and Beefheart, with funk,
rock, and many tempo changes. Unfortunately all band members are shy. The guitarist and bassist wore caps over their faces and barely looked at the
audience. Also, the guitarist talked way too fast.
And then, Primus! With Jay Lane! At the background, two inflatable dolls of astronauts were placed, with right arm raised like a Chinese good luck
cat. Videos were shown in the space helmets during the concert.
Sis and I were at the dead front left, directly in front of Ler!
The band opened powerfully with Groundhog's Day. After that:
a new song off Green Naugahyde, then
Those Damned Blue Collar Tweekers,
a cover of Pink Floyd's In The Flesh,
Here Come The Bastards
New song, a bit bluesy
Over The Falls, played on a 4-string. During this Les announced Ler sweetly, and Ler proceeded with a smashing solo.
New song, I frequently heard the words "Step aside", leading me to think it was the ballad of Bodacious, but there was no Antipop tonight
Mr Knowitall
A solo from Ler. While Ler changed guitar after each song, Les didn't switch bass until now: he came back with his wonderful electric upright.
New song, managed to make out "market place"
Les went away for a bit and came back in a pig mask, playing another new song with the upright. I made out "lost the plot".
Came on with the 6-string fretted: Jerry Was A Racecar Driver with Les imitating Porky the Pig on Dog Will Hunt
A new song
Bob
Tommy the Cat Brown Style
Frizzle Fry
Noticeable instances:
"Hey, you're the guy I hear all the time who sounds like Cookie Monster! Ah, you know Cookie Monster here. I can't do Cookie Monster, it's not my
style."
"I heard someone say "Shake Hands With Beef". We don't play that anymore. We now play Shake Hands With Pineapple Chicken, what with all the cook shows
on TV nowadays (last bit I'm not too sure of since people were applauding)
"I was sitting earlier with Ler this day thinking what music will we bring to the good people of Eindhoven. Ler said we need to bend their minds. You
see he's a very cerebral fellow."
After the show, the roadie tossed the guitar picks into the audience. He tossed one at me and Icaught it! It's a fresh one, clearly showing the phrase
"Salami Tits". He later tossed one at my sister, and it went right in her cleavage.
(I'm very happy for her. She once got a pick tossed at her after a Slayer concert, but the bouncer gave it to the girl next to her. My sister was a
massive Slayer fan and cycled over 30 km to see them, she felt so bad over that.)

Don't worry, there's still options for March 30 and 31, and April 3... would've been cool though if I could catch them on my birthday. And if they
don't come near you, you're welcome to stay over here.

Date for Paris is March 27, 2012, in the Zénith. Can't find it on the site of Zénith yet, so don't purchase your tickets right now.

Last night President Obama was in San Francisco. At a fundraising event he honored three famous musicians: Booker T Jones, Charlie Musselwhite and Les
Claypool.
Here's a link to his speech:

I found that picture on Facebook. I'm not sure who the woman is, but I think she's related to Les...
