...So I'm a former fan (now just someone who likes it) of the musical Cats and I got a recording of the Australian version. Unfortunately it's an
inaudible keyboard + bad singers record (how come I have so many of those?), but it has 2 songs that aren't in the British or Dutch version.

Napalm Death! Nice!
Bought 2 CDs yesterday, one Best Of Muddy Waters and one with 50 classical tunes (I'm bound to have most, if not all, haven't checked yet). The last
one has some great music by Beethovan.

Beautiful peace of artwork. Pitiful when it is only a small picture in a cd booklet.
Makes me homesick to the vinyl period.

I totally agree with you on that, some record sleeves deserve something better than just a little 12x12 cm booklet.

Ah! Seven Churches! Nice!
Though I preferred Beyond the Gates to be honest (Tribulation kicks ass). It's still pretty good.
PS Punky: You can have Soon e MC anytime, some French rap, very boring.

Some more in the classical department:
Codex Faenza: Instrumental Music of the Early XVth Century By Ensemble Unicorn, Naxos label. The title is odd, since all music on it is 14th century.
Among others, there's Machaut, Landini and Bologna on it.
Stravinsky: Divertimento; Ravel: Sonata for Violin and Piano; Prokovief: Sonata op 94a, Philips label.
And, my favourite:
Shostakovich: The Nose.
The opera after one of my favourite books. Since it sounds experimental (unlike most of the music Sh. has written), it never got as popular as Lady
Macbeth (with the infamous rape scene), so it was rarely recorded. Even in the Shostakovich-year it's difficult to get your hands on The Nose. I found
it by coincidence in a second-hand section of a popular music store.

Yup... Shost was walking on the brink of disaster occasionally whenever he'd composed something the State did not approve of (like Lady Macbeth or his
4th symphony.
The Soviet state was about the only government we know of that would actually censor music. Most censorship in music is limited to changing lyrics,
but the Soviets (better put, Stalin) saw threat in tones. Chaikovsky's infamous Ouverture 1812 for instance has been partially recomposed because it
contained the hymn of the Czar.

Yeah. Part of the documentary talked about the music conservatories. Every now and then the "Minister for Music" and the music police would come
around and all the students would have to get out their compositions for inspection. The music police would come to everyone with an eraser, pencil
and scissors to "fix" their works and get rid of certain intervals and chords.
