England will play Ecuador on June 25th in Stuttgart, and I don't think they'll lose that. So they'll be in the quarter finals.

Holland vs Argentina: 0-0. About the most boring match of the tournament.
Czech Republic has just been knocked out the tournament by the Italians unfortunately. If Netherlands meets the Itis (fat chance, Portugal is next), the orange lions are out.

Actually the Aussies are 1-0 behind...

Wait! they just tied! Japan-Brazil is now 1-1 as well...

Well. 2-2... Hope that ref will never be at the WCs again.
Aussies are through! Now they'll have to face Italy on June 26th.

:rsvd::rsvd: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncing:  :D :P

What an outrageous match! My favourite part was when a Croatian guy was given his second yellow card but just stayed on the pitch anyway for 20 minutes or so. Then in the last minute he got his third yellow card and then was sent off!

Australia was both very unlucky and very lucky. The goalkeeper has officially played his last game. If they lost, he would probably have hanged himself.

It was interesting that about half of the Aussie team come from Croatian backgrounds, and the Croatian team have several players who were born in Australia.

Now play Italy on Tuesday. . . All pressure is on the Italians and we have nothing to lose.

The funny thing about this world cup for Australia is that a huge part of the population come from countries that we are up against! In Melbourne alone there are gigantic Japanese, Croatian and Italian populations who are all slightly confused right now.

But it was fun to see
Looked like ladies soccer sometimes, but it was great fun
The funny mistakes by everyone.
Though the hands actions by Croatia are so unfair that I am glad that they are off. Good for Australia is the problem Italy faces in their own country now that at least 4 clubs will be punished including ACMilan and Juve. Juve will be set back to the latest place and therefore will be playing in the series b next year instaed of champions league Also no European competition for AC Milan. That will be horrible for them. Great, the strongest competition in Europe degreased into almost zero.

Certainly no ladies soccer from Portugal - Netherlands: 1-0, 16 yellow cards, 4 people sent off.

On that display, I think that England are capable of beating them in the next round.
...especially with no Ronaldo or Deco, we have a great chance....

Maybe... Two years ago, I predicted the result exactly: 2-2 and Britain lose penalties because of Beckham. We were joking about he might be Dutch cos he missed 2 penalties in the tournament.

Funny to see him puke :regan:

YUCK!

Ukraine vs Switzerland is another bore. 0-0, and the first two penalties were missed. Ukraine has just kicked one in.

With all those camera's nowadays you can clearly see that referees often make mistakes. In the past red and yellow cards were introduced in order to keep the game clean. In the past few years the system of cards is missused in order to keep soccer a sport and not a show. We now see that that just works the other way round. Its a big show with 22 actors. If you have not brushed your teeth and your opponent is falling down to earth by the smell of your breath it will be punished with a yellow card. Soccer is no longer a serious sport. More and more it became a show, something like free wrestling.
If a real attack on your legs occure, do not try to avoid that, if you are jumping away and accidently fall by that action, they call it a Schwalbe. For me now soccer as a sport is dead. When we want to continue to see soccer as a sport a few things must change. No more sending off, no more childisch red and yellow cards and most of all no more penalties. Only free kicks, direct and indirect.
The "weltmeisterkampf" as seen these days are horrible. At least Holland must be punished hard for fooling around. They have not send their best players, it all was a training for young players for getting international exprience in order to perform good in 2008 and 2010. A lot of players in the Dutch team have no more experience than playing in the Dutch competition against laughable teams as RBC Roosendaal. In Germany they were performing badly and used too many time the emergencybrake by attacking other players. Their nationalised Maroccan player fits in a Belgian Bus but not in a soccer stadium. The Dutch declassed soccer as something dirty and declassed the championships as a training for theirselves. I truly am sorry to be Dutch these days.

Pity,
Worse is that vanBasten stays until 2010.
Soccer is dying bit by bit
